The vein on the skin... I can have no complain if it is a Meermin or even Carmina, but it is a fxxking St. Crispins

Not to derail the Skoak thread, but isn't that just checking in the highly polished finish? I had an older "new" pair that looked the same. With age, wear and more polish, I no longer notice. Maybe post it in the St. C thread.

Fred,

what a nice choice and thank you for coming up with this idea? What last did you pick?

There is EG model just like this but you do not see many of them. It is called Robertsbridge. It looks great on 82 last but that last is no go for me so I have to explore other lasts and manufacturers.

By the way, when you receive those would you please post some pictures I am really interested what Bracken Museum Calf looks like in the real life.

Thanks, I hadn't seen the Robertsbridge before. I ended up going with the 946 last. I was considering the 804 and that might have been a more traditional choice for a wingtip, but I liked the look of the austerity bal and the norvegese wingtip that Skoak currently carries on the 946. I also already have 5 pairs of brown wingtips, RL Marlow, 2 Alden LWBs on the Barrie (1 calf, 1 suede), C&J Clifford, and AS Hannover boots, so the 946 would at least be a different look for me than all of those. I'll definitely post pics in approx. 3 months when they arrive!

With the favorable Euro/USD exchange rates I was just wondering if anybody would be interested in a GMTO of the Carmina u-wing boot by way of Skoak? I know that another affiliate thread did another run, but I was thinking that since the design was originally from Skoak then it feels more right to organize the Group MTO here.

I'm open to any color upper, except black but my preference is a burgundy color or something in brown with reddish tones. Does Carmina have something similar to Etrusco?

Preference is Dainite or any rubber sole/tap sole as it rains a lot where I'm from and leather soles get chewed up really fast.

Im also interested in any split toe derby make up in suede or calf.

Anybody else interested?

Question for the fine folks here- I am a 7 UK Detroit that fits comfortably with thin weight socks, although any narrower in the toe and my pinky toes would be in trouble. There is a small amount of heel slip but I fixed it with heel pads. I'm looking at the balmoral calf/grain boot on Forest last and I'm wondering if a 7.5 UK would be comparably wide in the toe. Thanks!

Your best bet is to directly email Skoaktiebolaget for this sort of inquiry. I would expect the 7.5 UK in Forest last would work for you (and the 7 probably would not), but I could not say just how close it would be in width to the 7 UK in Detroit.

I would tend to agree with 2000r on this one. it isn't the end of the world but those were in the neighborhood of
1500 u.s. and wouldn't meet my expectations of St. C

I agree, but I would have returned them, certainly not kept them.

I am definitely interested in the U wing. But, not really thinking burgundy. I liked the cordovan because something about it just popped but I know cordovan is not happening right now. Would like to create that crisp formal look it had and not sure which leather is the best choice.

Please guys, maybe keep this in the StC thread?

Would love to do another Uwing Boot project. Problem is there does not seem to be any Cordovan in the near future. A Burgundy Shell Uwing Boot would look so awesome.

Suede? A mid-brown like Polo with a slight contrast stitch?

I loved the U wings ability to be formal so I would hesitate to move to suede. Maybe if I could see it. are there any calf leathers that have a similar luster to cordovan?

Unfortunately no, Cordovan is unique and that's why it's so coveted.

I love the u-wing boots but fail to understand the many comments I see that they are formal. That boot is not formal and I don't see it working in a business dress (suit for something serious) context either. Love the boot, don't get me wrong.

I guess when I say formal I really mean office. Slacks and sport coat. I guess I mean they look dressy...
