So close to what I want! Is it worth trying to have this suit's sleeves shortened?

After much searching, I found a brown, coarse wool suit that I really liked (club monaco). It went on sale, so I grabbed it and it was almost exactly what I wanted.

Here's the thing, I feel like the sleeves are too long. Probably 0.5" if I want to show any cuff at all. But the sleeves have working cuffs, with the first button 1.5" from the end. After some online searching, it seems that altering sleeves with working buttons is risky. Should I return the suit and keep looking or try to have it adjusted?

Pics of suit and close up of cuffs:

That's actually a pretty nice suit.

I would say keep it, and get the sleeves shortened. It looks like the button holes are far enough away from the edge that you have some room to experiment.

Nice kop, anyway.

you are in luck.

you can easily lop off 0.5" from each sleeve end without messing up the proportions.

Good find, looks good on you.

Thanks for the comments, I was planning on having the trousers hemmed if the suit was a keeper, and according your advice (and a tailor), the sleeves are not too long to be shortened before the buttons.
