Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions - Page 83

Just be sure he didn't send an e-check via paypal and it is just pending approval. They can take 5 or 6 days to clear your account.

That will still generate a transaction in your paypal account immediately, so he should be able to tell if that's the case.

Correctomundo... but it will look like payment sent in the items awaiting payment list, and won't move to the items awaiting shipment list until it clears.

Thanks for the info guys. In my PayPal account there isn't anything listed from him, e-check or otherwise, in my account history. I can open the unpaid case today, so at least I won't have to wait much longer.

Woaaaahh that was close. I just cost myself like $45 for a stupid mistake, but caught it before it got any worse. I had my listings scheduled to start tonight around 11PM. I went in earlier and did a bulk edit, and somehow switched the listing time to AM instead of PM.  They all went live costing me listing fees, I had to end each one individually and reschedule. baldy[1].gif

But when you go to print a label through ebay, it will give you a warning at the top that payment hasn't cleared yet.

Not sure why I'm replying to you, I'm sure you know all of this smile.gif But for his benefit and whoever else reads this thread.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will give the 30 day bonobo option a try.

What do you guys do when you attach the wrong label to a purchase? I sent a pair of boots to one buyer and a pair of pants to another buyer, and one of them contacted me to let me know they got the wrong shipment. I contacted each of them last week to send them a new label so they could ship the item to the right buyer, and I haven't heard anything from either of them since then.

You probably should explained the mistake and paid them both to ship the items back to you. Then asked if they still wanted, and shipped as originally intended. Having them ship to each other sounds like a recipe for disaster and you really shouldn't be sharing their personal information with other people anyways. As a matter of practice though, I'm not sure how you accidentally confuse pants and boots?

Yeah, having them ship to each other way probably the wrong move.

I messed doing that with two shirts once, I think I offered both buyers full refunds and offered to pay for the return shipping back to me as well.

So I gave a question about Garagesale (the mac ebay app):

I'm a small-time seller, I mostly do it just to feed my own clothing/thrifitng/discount store hobby.
I have no interest in templates, or operating an ebay store. I generally just try and take good, well-composed, well-lit pictures on a table.

I know that I'm leaving money on the table by doing this, that a mannequin and lights and templates would make me more money but it's easier for me and I like that once everything is shipped out, the only remnant of anything left in my apartment is a roll of packing tape.

The thing is I loath the actual listing process, it's time consuming, tedious and dull.
I was hoping for a program or app that would speed it up, make listing a little less clumsy (fewer "regular or big and tall" dropdowns and waiting for photos to load), ad ideally somthing that would allow me to prepare listings earlier in the week, istead of rushing to type them out thursday night.

I can;t quite tell if garage sale would be any better for me in these regards, it seems like a great tool for big time seller, but I'm concerned it's more of an "ebay store maintenance app" than a tool for making listing easier.

I would love to hear more about it as well as it sounds like I'm about in the same boat as Ruben. Anybody out there use it for hobby selling?

Also, I'm not sure when it happened as I just saw it, but why did eBay.com make using the completed searches more complicated? It used to be a small box on the left and now it's a bit buried in a pop-up menu. It's not on eBay.de yet and I hope they don't make it that way as it's a pain to get to it.

It seems to go to that default old format every time they are working on updates. This time it happened 2 or 3 days ago. Now when I go to ebay (as of this morning) it is in the new format with the completed listings and sold listings options right at the top of the results list....far more convenient than ever. What is strange, is that it has been in the new format at my home computer for a few weeks, but this is the first day my work computer has seen the improvements.

That explains it! I was afraid that they intended to bury the option to make it harder for sellers or potential sellers, but that made absolutely no sense as they attempt to make it easier valuing whatever it is that you're trying to sell. Things are much slower to happen to eBay.de, so a change that's made on eBay.com is a prediction of what I'll see later.

I really hate the glacial pace of ebay buyers and their insistence on bidding at the last minute.

OK. I am forever finished with complaining about the bidding habits of ebayers.
