Good luck GT, if it's any comfort they're pretty good with those valve surgeries these days. My grandfather had one, gosh, it has to be at least 10, maybe 15 years ago now, and he's right as rain.

A co-worker of mine (who I also hook up with now and then) just told me her grandmother died in a car accident tonight. It's been snowing heavily for a few hours now.

I feel very sorry for her. Just awful.

yeah, they are both old and falling appart. they've been smoking for better than 65 years, and they both grew up in poverty. I'm amazed they're stil alive

thanks. he's a tough old bastard, so I am hoping that he'll be ok. I just feel bad for him being alone now.

Thanks for the bowling league related support all. Was able to have a reasonable rational talk with my friend and he agreed that he will only bring her rarely.
I also bowled a clean game (all spares and strikes) to make me feel better.
The institution of bowling leagues lives on for me.

I was cleaning the person I used to take care of house tonight and was helping them do a few things on the compueter. One was apply to a job and I noticed that they've now applied to 450 open positions. In the past year. This is someone with 25 years experience and a masters degree. The look of sheer and utter dejection on their face is heartbreaking.
