Sorry I have to rant a little bit here about voxcorberia ... who's been consistently on my case for suggesting to people here to look across the aisle at SW&D for good ideas, cool products, brands, etc... to dress casually. Supposedly, that's an impossible bridge to cross, nothing can be learned, etc... and whaddayaknow today Mr vox himself posting on his tumblr a fit with grey MMM GATs !
sounds like a case of "do as I say, not as I do". We need an explanation mister !

To be fair to Bill, I think his argument was that, on balance, SW&D doesn't have much to teach MCers. I never read him as saying everything venerated by SW&D was crap.
On the other hand, his Tumblr sure is active since his secession.

Perhaps SW&D can share helpful lessons about not wearing creased khakis with casual wear, especially when taking a trip to the gun show.

I thought he was disapproving of people deviating from their stylistic identity (his being ivy league) on the weekends. The irony with those GATs is that visually they work perfectly with the casual dad outfit, but the history (Belgian reinterpretation of German army kit) could hardly be more inconsistent with an unadulterated ivy league aesthetic.

You guys are reading a lot more into it than I did. I thought his point was that if a guy can't follow the relatively straightforward coat-and-tie template, there was little chance he'd be able to process and articulate SW&D aesthetics any more successfully.
