That's going a bit too far in my opinion. Too short for an interview/job at one of the big four accounting firms or a conservative law office? Yes. Too short for an interview at a startup social media company? Nah. I know this is the Classic Menswear subforum and that suit's cut is on the fashionable side of the style spectrum, but I doubt it would raise an eyebrow outside of a handful of very traditional settings.

My guideline is this: If the job you're interviewing for is one where you're expected to wear a suit regularly, go with something more traditional for the interview. If it's a more casual office environment, a shorter/slimmer/trendier cut is fine, and may even be a positive attribute if you're interviewing with people who aren't accustomed to more traditional menswear. Not that I'm an expert, just trying to add my perspective.

There's certainly something to what you say. There are environments where such cuts would be fine and even welcome. For example....at Suit Supply! Seriously, you can see a lot of this sort of cut on Tumblr etc. If one likes the look, then enjoy it.

Still, I think that there is some objectivity here. Take one of the short jackets with a very suppressed waist, and short sleeves as you see above. Have the person stand with that jacket buttoned. Then take another jacket, longer, with less suppression and appropriate sleeves. I think you'll see an immediate difference: the latter, even if more "classical" will look sharper and not musty/fusty.

But at the end of the day, you should enjoy what you wear and not worry about SF validation.

True; just as nobody got fired for buying IBM (does that saying still exist?), nobody has been passed over for a job because he was wearing a well-tailored traditional suit. If I was to pick a one-suit-to-rule-them-all interview wardrobe it wouldn't be the suit pictured, but I also wouldn't suggest that the guy get rid of that one just because it's a bit more trendy. Completely agree about the sleeves, though.

Which cut would you suggest for a tall (6'2), skinny man with very long arms? Looking for something classic-fitting in charcoal or navy. I plan on trying on a bunch when they open in Toronto, but would be nice to have a starting point.

I'm 6'5" and found the London navy was excellent for me. It is slim but not overly so and the buttoning point is flattering for a taller person (just above my belly button). I did not like the Napoli as the buttoning point was very high and did not work for my body type. The sleeves on a 40L are more or less perfect for me (35-36" dress shirt sleeve typically).

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Suit Supply had put the Canadian pricing back to where it was before the hike a few days ago. Just went on the website to see if they had added anything new in the last few days and now the prices are back up again! The only thing worse than getting jacked with the price is the uncertainty I now have over when to place my order. I don't want to order a bunch of stuff and then have the price drop again a week from now.

Thanks for your opinions positive and negative as well regarding my linen jacket. However FYI I will stay with 38R. Nevertheless I do want to purchase additionally in very close future full wool suit (probably gray or blue) and this time it will be long (just want to try, I'm still not so optimistic regarding the required length).
What types of SS suits are better for similar to my body type (slim and high)? As I know Washington is the slimmest one, but I want to try something different. (I mean also slim, at least trousers, but this time not Washington)
Thanks in advance

Any comments on the quality compared to Kent Want MTM? I understand suit supply is half canvas for the non-blue line?

in my opinion having bought from SS MTM....I would give Proper Suit a try (if you have the money to spend a little more)

fully canvassed starts at about $750 but SS nevertheless is great at that price point.

I'm not an expert, but my KW tux feels significantly better on and drapes way better than my SS suit. That said, SS still has a spot in my closet, because I like the London cut and don't think I can replicate the unpadded, but structured shoulders through KW.

Bought the Washington size 34 and it's a little bit longer than what I'm used to wearing, feels great though.

Do you guys think the jacket is too long? I plan to shorten it by an inch to maximise my leg length, since I'm just a mere 5'7.

And other than the jacket length, what else do you guys recommend in the alterations department for this one?

The sleeves are bit wrinkled because this is straight out of the box, and I suck at posing for the camera.

The shoulders look a bit big to me. As you mentioned, it could also stand to be shorter by an inch or 2. If this is a 34, you may want to consider MTM. The trousers look like they fit well.

If you're planning on shortening the jacket, that will cost you some decent money (I'd guess anywhere from $75-$150, depending on where you get it done). The additional money you'd spend on tailoring might just be close to the difference between SS OTR and SS MTM.
