I don't drink. When out and about I'll have a coke or soda and cran. I don't make an issue of it and neither does anyone else.
Same here.
I have been asked once or twice in five years, why I am not drinking.

I feel no burning desire to drink, unlike most of my friends. However, I won't pass up a good chance, though it's more for the hanging out/having fun than drinking to get drunk.

When it's winter, I'll have a couple whiskeys on hand for when I want a warming up good taste, and in summer I always have a gin and tonic ready.

I'm taking a month off (on day 3 now) just for the heck of it. Save a bit of cash and not feel like **** a lot of mornings.

After having prided myself on having an iron gut, I started suffering from acid reflux about two months ago. I'm supposed to be off the booze (although the evidence seems more anecdotal than clinical), but I can't quite bring myself to stop completely in social settings. So I'm down to about three or four drinks per week. It's really cramping my style.

I stopped drinking recently. It is incredibly difficult to maintain as it cuts against the social grain very gratingly. I just say "I am taking a break", which I am. Luckily I am pretty out there in real life so I don't act boring or anything while sober. But it is difficult. Harder to loosen up without a drink. Main reasons I am taking a break is that I now do not wake up with hangovers. Also when I drink I just want to get ass, which is annoying.

^^ lots of drinking on an empty stomach can cause all kinds of ulcers and acid reflux.

The part about reflux is most likely true. But alcohol doesn't cause ulcers; neither does stress nor spicy foods. Turns out the vast majority of ulcers are caused by the H. pylori bacteria, with overuse of NSAIDs being the secondary cause. (I've been researching somewhat compulsively about all this, mostly because I want to enjoy red wine and cocktails again.)

It does take some effort. I have other things to temper my high strung nature, but staying outgoing and gregarious in social situations without alcohol is something I have to try to do.

I'm okay hanging out with my good friends (most of whom drink a lot) while sober. What's harder for me is going to eat nice meals. It somehow seems wrong to pair delicious food with water.

I dont drink, and never have.

It's not on religious grounds, and not particularly health based either as I don't have any condition or medication preventing me from drinking, although not consuming any alcohol (beer and sugar rich cocktains in particular) certainly helps working our and diet wise.

Drinking to the point of intoxication just never appealed to me and having 1-2 drinks doesn't make me feel any different so I don't drink.

I do get annoyed when people are surprised that I don't drink- they never seem to have an answer as to why they themselves drink regularly when I throw it back at them.

I have not had a drink in years. I just feel better without it. It never did me any good or bad. I would rather be in shape and spend my money on things that will give me more pleasure over the long run.

+1 Can't drink, because you lose control, or you're afraid you'll lose control? That's because you're actually an evil ******* ****, **** off.
