Not to worry. The full-fat kind also has 0g fat per 100ml.

Have you made some? Think I might make some in February.

I'll also share my thoughts about Star of Sapphire and the half-dozen rums in Feb/March. I had a cold and didn't get to taste them in detail.

Dropped by Bar Old Fashioned in Yeonnam last night. Nice bar. More importantly, I learned that Amaro Nonino is now available in Seoul. Now to track it down.

That's my favorite bar I think. The dude always treats me really well.

I haven't. Learned that I have to make a ginger beer plant and it takes like a week to make that. Been too lazy

Can you post results and procedure when you do make it?

Oh. I think Morgenthaler uses regular champagne yeast. I'll do that unless I can source some "ginger beer plant" easily.

Champagne yeast works great

From what I've read traditional ginger beer also needs a bacteria culture to provide some tanginess which yeast doesn't provide.

Tapering down on the last of the holiday libations ... last night actually, but still so good.

Had a bumbo (there's several spellings):

2oz. El Dorado 12
.5oz. Demerara simple syrup
Topped with freshly grated nutmeg

Apparently is an alternative drink to grog on ships way back when, but surprisingly pretty same tasty. The nutmeg essence brings out some really nice flavors in the rum.

On an aside, I'm typically bourbon/scotch/rye drinker with the occasional gin or moscow mules, but rum came onto my radar from this thread and it's really surprisingly good. I had to get by the bad college memories if Admiral Nelsons (captain Morgan knockoff) spiced rum and Bacardi 151, but I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Any other good sipping rums that people care to recommend? I'm thinking of trying Diplomatica Reserva Exclusiva, Prussers, St Theresa 1796, and Ron Zacapa 23. If anyone can recommend one over another or other rums entirely I'd appreciate it.

This thread keeps helping me find new great drinks

I'm digging the Plantation Barbados XO currently. Sweet & oaky, great coconut note. If you like El Dorado 12, which is a great rum in itself, you could give the 15 a shot (I haven't tried it yet). If you like a drier rum, Flor de Cana 12 is a good bet (or the 18 for a very oaky expression). If you like an oaky + sweet + sherried one, Dos Maderas PX 5+5 is a safe bet.
And then there are Rhum agricoles for something completely different. Haven't tried the rums you've listed (not even the Zacapa shog[1].gif, just the 15 years ago, which was nice).
