This is just a lazy comparison.

First, W-L record has been proven to be a pretty poor measure of a pitcher's performance.

Second, Bumgarner has more Ks, but he also pitched significantly more innings (47 to be exact). A better indicator is SOs/9, which shows Bumgarner with a slight lead: 8.3 to 7.6.

Third, BAA is probably not as good of an indicator as WHIP. Bumgarner's WHIP was 1.11. Fister's was 1.19. That's a difference of 0.08. Small difference that can probably be attributed to Fister facing a DH, and Bumgarner pitching in a pitcher's park.

Finally, Fister's 3.45 ERA is in the AL with a poor defensive team, while Bumgarner's 3.37 ERA is in the NL with a solid defense and a great pitcher's park. You need to look at ERA+. Fister had a 122, while Bumgarner had a 103. Frankly, ERA+ is probably the best indicator of quality of pitching, and Fister is substantially better. Moreover, the average ERA in the AL is about 0.25 higher, so Fister's ERA is even considerably more impressive than Bumgarner's, if you account for that too.

Look, I've got no dog in this fight. I could care less about either team. Fister and Bumgarner are both solid pitchers, and both bring a lot to the table. I appreciate the love for your team, but at least be honest about them.

You can despise it all you want, but it doesn't make it not true. Actions beyond the control of a pitcher's performance have a significant impact on whether they win or lose. It's just not a good measure of how well they pitch.
