I hope Mike Carp and Mike Trout somehow become the two best hitters in the AL West. Fish battle!

They'll need to take hitting instructions from Tim Salmon.

So some 5'5", 155 pound 21 year old on the Astros named Jose Altuve hit .367 in April. I find this much more interesting than the endless bloviating about Albert Pujols.

The second coming of Freddy Patek. Except it looks like he can hit.

I'm feeling pretty vindicated right now re: my insistence to all my Braves fan friends that Chipper is a big asset to the team who deserves to play out his career on his own terms. Despite the fact that most of them have spent the last few years whining about him, Chip is suddenly a hero in a lot of Facebook posts.

then its seamless... since you cheered for the braves you can latch on to the Rays because of the southern roots... and also complain about the respective fanbases (about how they don't show up for home games even when their teams are winning), you can also defend said fanbases for being diehards and complaining about the stadiums bad weather traffic lame location ect ect.

This is actually pretty good.

Plus, you'd make a great Rays fan, Ed, what with your complete inability to show any real allegiance to a team. All of the Rays "fans" I know, save one or two, have multiple favorite teams. It's always one of those, "yeah, I've totally been a Rays fan since they started; I just happened to go to a game and buy a t-shirt for the first time when they started winning. Why did I root for the Yankees before? Oh, well, they're my other favorite team because my grandma's dog's best friend saw Mantle in a deli once while she was visiting NYC for the first time ever" type deals with their fans.

Horrible way for Mo Rivera to end his career if this is it. Top 5 pitcher of this generation. IMO.

Jhonny Walk Off HR Peralta steals a victory from the dreaded White Sox. A win over Chicago is twice a win for Detroit. Good feelings.

robots don't have feelings. Agonz will still produce up to his statistical norms after 162 games.

He and Albert are done for the season. They will bat 200. Sorry I'm looking at how they've batted. /slopho

Both teams' pitching staffs will be decimated for a few days after that game.

Also, not sure how many of you read, or know the story, of Calico Joe the new Tom Clancy book but going to sleep last night I was like man, the similarities between that and Bryce Harper are pretty similar. Anyway, hope life doesn't imitate art... :embar:

I'm tired of hearing about Bryce Harper already. Last night's ESPN broadcast was a Bryce Harper knob-gobbling slobfest, and that his "steal" of home was some miraculous thing. The kid plays wild, and it will come back to bite him. He's the kind of player that will end up hurting himself on a relatively inconsequential play and making outs at third base.

Also, I'm glad Hamels plunked him. Don't care about the suspension (just moves his next start back a day) but the fine is ridiculous. And its hypocritical that MLB isn't doing the same punishment for Nats' Zimmerman for his retaliation.
