Cutting the waist in pants that aren't designed for it doesn't always work. It could move the pockets and make other things look off. You could ask, but I doubt it would come out well.

But the reality is that if J Crew doesn't fit, then it just doesn't fit and you have to move on to something else. Something that fits crappy is going to look terrible no matter what label is on it.

Thanks J Crew.

What do you guys think of this madras?

I have a 40$ gift card and I want to get something worth putting some money towards. Sale section looks nice but I have too many jeans and the sweaters aren't too interesting. I do like this flannel but I feel maybe I should stick with the madras sense I have like seven different flannels but only two madras. Opinions? Would be nice if the below shirt was a summer time shirt.

Don't go with the flannel. I'm sure the flannels will go on sale. It's practically March at this point and they can't keep selling pastel colored flannels in spring. Go with the madras. It's going to come in handy in spring and summer.

Take a look at the green flannel (Crestline). I have it and it fits surprisingly well. But the orange one pictured is nice too. I might get that later in the season.

^ I actually like this shirt. The like the color and the feel of it. I hope it goes on sale soon.

I guess the point is that a lot of people can't or aren't comfortable pulling off an actual loud madras shirt. This is a good middle ground.

I get the point. Just seems a bit affected IMO. Madras = go big or go home.

I agree, if I had to pick one that would be it. Just dont be surprised if when you get it in real life that the color is a little off.
