At one point, they donned replicas of Mallory and Irvine's attire while on the mountain, and promptly froze their asses off.


As near as I can tell from reading stuff like JMK points out and other Mallory-Irvine/Scott/Admundson sites, the Mallory kit is best suited for what I think climbers call light and fast ascents, but if they were caught in high winds or a storm they would be goners. That's true even of modern stuff on Everest, but more so for them. They seem to have better mobility than modern kits, but less insulation and wind protection.

I'd love to see the documentary; it still seems like even money whether Mallory made it to the top before falling on the descent.

recently indulging in all the great fit pics on here! Want to join in and purchase my first NC piece, but finding a Navy Mallory in a 54 at a good price seems close to impossible :(

I just added another Cabourn item to my closet- the Naval Pant in navy Turner canvas. I'm really liking the trousers that ARN Mercantile makes.
