Yep, the "authentic original" Sperry boat shoes are just right for summer.

Robert, I can never tell if you're serious or not, about anything you say.

+1 to whoever recommended Toms. I can't say anything about comfort, but they look fantastic and they're for a great cause.

Sorry. No really. The Sperry orginal brown or blue ones are great. Long have been a favorite of mine for warm weather. They're simple, basic, classic, fairly versatile (in the warm weather months). Not expensive so you can wear the hell out of them and then replace them.

Seems people are saying leather boat shoes are still the way to go.

Canvas shoes not comfortable, still hot, and just overall bad to wear sockless? (at least in comparison to leather boat shoes) I guess, if that's the case (dunno since never wore canvas shoes really, w/ or w/o socks), then shouldn't go for 'em.

But was liking the idea of being able to easily clean canvas shoes too.

I'll look into SeeVees, Spring Courts, and PF Flyers (isn't that the shoe from Sandlot?) and see what I like. Thanks for replies.

I'm rocking brown Quoddys, black hemp Rainbows and all white achilles lows when I find them.

I just bought some quoddy navy suede bluchers from winn perry. I haven't received them yet but it might fit the bill for you.

Personally, I recommend you go with this Sperry if you decide to get leather boat shoes. It has more arch support than the "classic" Sperry boat shoe. The only problem... the ink from the leather seems to come off on your socks/feet after wear.

^ I currently have Generic Surplus Plimsolls for the summer, and I have to say it's the most comfortable shoe I've owned.

Everytime I put them on, I feel like I'm stepping on a baby's butt.

Really? Tom love? Toms get mad hate on the forums. And it's weird because mine are so damn comfortable; and I've had my eye on the white canvas stitchouts with the pseudo-boat shoe cord details. Of course, they're sold out in my size.

i used to have these white canvas lace-ups that were fantastic in the summer. they had a thin, natural rubber sole and grommets along the sides to let water drain; they were for sailing. i haven't found anything like them since.

boat shoes or unlined loafers are good, too.

Feiyues are also pretty good. I bought them for Kung Fu purposes in high school and was surprised when I got 5 or 6 compliments a day on them.
