Do you guys mod your cars or ride stock?

Usually go all OEM on mine and fit every factory option, that can be retrofitted, the original buyer didn't spec. leather, sat nav etc.plus coilovers and a set of wheels, I can't stand wheel gap.

Most people can't see what has been done until I park it next to a standard one.

I use to love having all bells and whistles until I bought a Triumph Spitfire. Now I just like plain and simple. I really want to buy a TR6 with suspension/tires and some damn good brakes. CD Player and replace factor speakers with aftermarket, no subs or any fancy junk. Add A/C and just daily the beast. I am probably going to buy a Alfa by the end of next week, but who knows.

I used to be somewhat like this, have had pretty highly modified cars, very lightly modified cars before - but over time, and with the way car mods have gone and the fact that people think it's a standard thing to do now and everybody makes ugly, incongruous mods - I feel like I am probably not going to modify any cars I buy in the future, barring some of the most subtle changes possible unless they're almost completely invisible.

For example, I would change out the wheels if they were within the original range of stock choices for the same model (like whatever the highest spec, best looking choice would be amongst the few OEM choices), but can't see myself buying any more aftermarket branded wheels again.

These 21" ML63 wheels on this CL65 look cool, but even here, because of the massive drop, things just look off to me:

I don't know about the US and Asia, but people in Europe tend to buy cars in poverty spec. with almost no options, so it's pretty hard to find a well spec'd car, so the only way to get all the options I like and in the right colour, is to retrofit it or buy it from new.

Regarding wheels I sort of feel the same way, but would still buy a really clean discrete looking wheels and most new cars looking like they are playing the earth is on fire or something and needs to be lowered.

I think that CL needs to be raised a little bit and have a better colour and it would be great.

I kinda noticed that over the years, the Euro-spec cars have nothing on them - US buyers tend to buy comfort options like air-con'ed/ heated seats for all 5 places, lots of leather, or the $5000 navigation option - in Japan the prices are so high already and they can't dump the cars at the 30% off discount like they do in the US, so instead they make like, 528i's with M-sport kits (w/ cloth seats as standard) and the 19"s, full extended leather added, folding mirrors, navi, but missing a few of the unnecessary comfort options, but at just a small add-on price, say $5-10K for the whole meal deal.

The new 911 is $110K to start here (hypothetical price before the real exchange rate is figured in - the real price is obscene), half-leather, half-cloth seats as standard - to add leather seats plus leather dash it's about $10K. Add the 20"s and it's like another $6K on top.

In the end, the US-spec European cars from awhile ago all have what I call 'selfish' options - they don't last over time for the used car buyer, like the 1991 E30 that is painted teal metallic and has cracked leather seats - and most of the good things, like the aero kits, the optional sport suspensions and wheels - those are all really rare. BMW and MB didn't really make 'world' cars with all the good options like M-sport/AMG styling kits available to Americans til like, 2003-2005.

Our Auto Insurance in America is a bit odd... I am 21/M, I got a quote for a 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T (Base/6-Speed) and a Fiat 500/Sport, damn Fiat would cost me $33x.xx more per 6 month to insure... Mazda Miata was not bad to insure, kinda in between.

By Danish standards 110k is a bargain, I believe it starts at 370k$ here. :brick:

For reference:
Golf GTi 90K$
Range Rover Sport 300k$
BMW 520 127k$

If I at 21 had called op the insurance to insure a Challenger R/T, they would hang up on me or quote me something outrageous like 200k a year.

I once got quoted 14k a year for a non v-tech 8 year old civic.

I keep mine mostly stock, small reversable mods (mods are a money pit, can't recoup the cost, and sometimes actually decreases value)
I don't touch the engine, just do good maintenance (plugs, fuel filter, gearbox/****** fluids, brake fluid...stuff most don't do)
brakes usually SS brake lines
I like a firmer ride so I usually put sport springs on them, but with little drop, less than an inch (my RS4 dropped 0.6 in front and 0.5 in the rear)
spacers, purely cosmetic

I nalways buy:
euro 1st aid kit
fire extinguisher
warning triangle

for some reason we don;t get them, but over there, required by law

Do you guys mod your cars or ride stock?

that is..... outrageous. Do people buy and plate cars in other countries, say Belgium or France, and drive them around 'temporarily' in your country?

New 6 with m technic kit is really good, so much better than the heinous and goofy ass outgoing model.
