for my own amusement i tried limiting my carbs at night over a 8 week period , but kept my caloric input the same as when i had carbs at night...NO DIFFERENCE WHAT SO EVER

the reason you hear ppl say dont eat carbs at night is that they want you to limited caloric intake, thats all

I'm not a scientist, nor have I read many studies, more of hearsay and people recommending not to eat sugars late at night as your body doesn't really need them, as your metabolic rate is slowing down (that's probably fact) and usually, what the body doesn't use, it stores as fat no?

So if you consume sugars, calories, carbs, all before going to bed, what your body doesn't use, it will store as fat... I figure it's a sound theory. I don't think a glass of milk, or a yogurt at night will necessarily make you gain 10lbs in 2 months, but across a long time... maybe.

I think it really all depends on the individual in the end... my wife eats, sugar cookies, cinnamon buns, and milk every night. She's 100lbs and doesn't gain at all.

Ive read that a full stomach can interupt sleep cycles, It just seems pointless to eat a big meal and then go to bed I dunno that seems like something fat people do.

Seems really light on the vegetables and lean protein. Peanuts, while not awful for you, don't offer most of the benefits of say, almonds or walnuts.

I've tightened up my eating considerably over the last couple of months and have seen according results. A typical day is:

Breakfast

- 6-8 oz Egg beaters
- 4 oz spinach
- Half medium tomato
- 3 strips low sodium turkey bacon
- 2 tsp fiber supplement
- 2 fish oil caps

If I wake up late, which happens a couple times a week, I'll scrap the above for a shake with 2 scoops of chocolate whey, 1 tbsp of natural PB, a couple ounces of blueberries and ice cubes.

Snack 1

- String cheese
- Apple (which I've dropped over the last couple weeks to limit non-vegetable carbs)

Lunch

- Some sort of stir-fry (i.e. 6 oz chicken with veggies such as snap peas, asparagus, zucchini, etc)
- 2 fish oil caps

Snack 2

- 1 oz almonds

PWO Shake

- 2:1 ratio of Gatorade powder to whey protein

Dinner

- Another serving of stir-fry (usually make two separate batches so I'm not eating the same exact mix for lunch and dinner)
- 2 fish oil caps

Snack 3

- 4 oz low-fat cottage cheese with half-scoop chocolate whey
- 2 ZMA caps

This is pretty standard and brings me to about 1,800 calories a day, with somewhere in the ballpark of 170-180 gram/protein and 70-80 gram/carb (after considering fiber) intake. That's about where I want to be since I'm cutting right now. I started with a 400 calorie deficit and recently dropped to 500, since I've usually found dropping fat to be a bit difficult (I was a "husky" child and young teen).

I won't drop any further than that and will probably continue this for another month before going back up to maintenance and then possibly do a slow, clean bulk.

I'm 5'7/8 and near 160lbs.

Definitely need to get back on a plan. Letting myself go for absolutely no reason.

i have 1-3 protein shakes a day, an assload of grilled chicken, and around 32 oz of milk. how 2 get leaner proteens? i'll definitely check to see if i can get almonds/walnuts/better veggies with my mealplan, but like most college dining plans, it sucks, and they're basically encouraging us to eat ******. my goal is to have a slight caloric surplus while i'm on stronglifts. i'm pretty lean at 170 pounds and 6'3".

the reason you hear ppl say dont eat carbs at night is that they want you to limited caloric intake, thats all

i have maintained this eating plan for years, this is not a diet for me

sure i can cut out the yogurts and limit the olives...but i dont want to as i love them

i just make an allowance in my diet eg decrease portion sizes in other areas

BTW i have received numerous pms asking what cardio i do

i dont do any, i should for health reasons, but i control my fat levels purely by diet, and cardio will be incidental eg playing with kids and dogs, but mostly ******* my wife and going to all the swinging parties...now that is strenuous

IMPORTANT
some pple have trouble processing carbs, instead of using it as energy, it gets stored as fat. This can be tested for and changes in diet are required

Agreed.

I eat mainly carbs and I'm on a cut now.

My Asian heritage demands I eat rice atleast twice per day. If I don't I get fat.

Number of calories consumed is the key, not the macro details.

I missed dinner being a repeat of the second lunch. I only saw chicken once, so I assumed you were only getting a good amount of lean protein at one meal plus your PWO drink.

When it comes to nuts, I prefer almonds. They're a bit pricey, but since they're so calorically dense, it's best to stick to only a serving or two, unless you're bulking up. Doing so will stretch a bag of almonds much further than say, a bag of chips.

I can't speak for your college, but I know the on-campus dining facility has a huge section that is literally a free-for-all of vegetables and fruit. If your campus has anything like that, load up like hell there.
