awesome, slight collar issue, change shoes for dirty white derbies and this kills.

This is what Margiela is all about IMO. Just, fucking endlessly cool.

These 505's have seen a lot of wear the past few weeks, much better lighting in the second pic, was trying on a blue blazer/jacket type thing.

You're making a huge mistake don't listen to these idiots!!  All you have to do is change the shoes and swag it out and you'll be good!!!!  That's supposed to be how MMM looks!!

Even your tailor told you this...!!!

exactly,

How is it possible for a suit to have that much balls yet still somehow look as laidback as a pair of jeans? Genius.

The suit cuts are the best thing the brand ever did.

a few observations though: i think the collar fits reasonably flush (for OTR), it really is just the way i've twisted up to take the picture. also, the shoulders are structured, but i don't think they're too big ( i have pretty broad shoulders, and certainly couldn't have sized down.) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
i do think the jacket may be too long in the body
, as someone pointed out. i'll see how it looks when the other alterations are done and make a decision then.
funnily enough i do have some (probably naive) faith in the SAs at margiela, as at yohji boutiques or dover street market they don't seem desperate to sell you stuff at all, just give the impression that they want to hang out and enjoy your company foo.gif
Maybe this isn't kosher around these parts, but you can have the body of a jacket hemmed (but only slightly). Do too much, and you risk throwing off the vent(s), the placement of the pockets, &c.

Since he's not 6'4" or whatever the models are, he could always have it hemmed so it's a proportional length relative to his height, y'know? I'm still not sure it would look good. The designer's vision doesn't always translate well from the runway to the real world (with the exception of those Thom Brown lobster claws, of course).

not too long, perfect length. Nohomo.

You guys are weird.

You think MMM doesn't know that everyone who wears his clothes isn't 6 4?  The fit is perfect he's just wearing it awkward!!

All the runway clothes are on people who are 6 2 to 6 4 so I guess you can't wear any designer clothes.  That's why there's sizes when they release to the general public and trust me that one is correct he's just wearing it awkward because he's self conscious about it and has the wrong shoes on.

I think every good sales associate is like this. In the end I think good SAs know that being kind and legitimately helping you out regardless are going to be more successful than trying to "trick" you into buying something.

No. Most models are way shorter than MMM models and a lot of his suiting is just cut for tall people. BTW the samples you see the models wearing in those presentations are NOT a different cut. Another designer that cuts for very tall guys is Paul Smith. I own jackets from MMM and PS and Im not 6'4" so, of course, this doesn't apply to all pieces. Now I think Robinson's suit will probably end up ok with a few alterations so no big drama here.

One piece I wish I had bought is the MMM tuxedo shirt that I think Jet got.

As a sales associate you have to be completely dead inside not to suggest an alternate size or cut when it clearly looks off on the customer.

In my days on the sales floor (which are behind me thank god), I would keep my mouth shut only if they insisted that whatever they were trying on fit exactly how they liked. Because, you know, arguing with satisfied clients isn't the way to keep them coming back
post #67693 of 117666

First of all, I know what you're saying but let me debunk a few things.  NO! MMM are tall maybe taller than most other runway models but only by like 3 inches you're blowing it way out of proportion.  I'm 5'10 and wear can wear pretty much everything straight off the runway and guess what all the models are like 6' 2, you don't have to have the exact model build to wear the clothes and have them fit right.  Again do you think MMM doesn't know that everyone isn't 6' 4?  Secondly, you of all people who wears a lot of MMM should know that it's supposed to fit relaxed like that!  Even his tailor originally told him not to alter it because it was so blatant that's what MMM had in mind!  This dude is trying to rock it like he's going to a business meeting all he has to do is undo the button, change his shoes, relax his shoulders/himself and then cigarette/sunglasses are optional for 30 thumbs up.  I wouldn't mind a different t either but it's optional with the cigarette.

Did you ever think that the SA told him it was a good fit because it was?

Even look at the runway photo and the huge break, it looks the same.  I'm not saying you have to wear it like they do on the runway but why buy MMM if you're going to tailor it into a regular suit.  I repeat, you're making a huge mistake.
