not only that, but I am certain the 6 months process to cure and produce cordovan accounts for $$$$$

Can anyone point me to which products I would need to properly care for my AE Strands in walnut?
I was thinking AE shoe trees, AE conditioner/cleaner. Would I need their polish in walnut too?

+ 1 on both counts. I think most people on SF seem to prefer a snug fit. I might be in the minority, but I'd almost rather have a shoe that is too big than too small. I can't stand having my toes crammed in. You really just have to be ruthless and not keep a shoe because you're in love with the way it looks, not the way it fits.

I do have a pair of shoes that, because of what I wear them with, I can deal with a less-than-stellar fit. But, especially as I live in a metropolitan area and walk to work, the majority of my shoes MUST fit properly or they'll have to find a new home on eBay.

Are they calf or cordovan? Either way, you can't go wrong with Saphir Renovateur for cleaning/conditioning. I'm not sure I would use any polish on them if they are the calf variety since you might lose the nice burnishing effect.

And I was told that the 399 for firsts is only for the shoes they have already made, not for orders.

I got an order in for cordovan MacNeils. I haven't been able to locate any walnut cordovan strands, so I assume they are made to order or only from the factory?

My SA at my local AE outlet is going to try and get me the seconds Strands in Walnut shell. She said her computers showed there was one left in my size (9D) at the factory.

Update on the shell cordovan sale. By now we all know that there is in fact a sale on select, in-stock cordovan shoes at both the factory outlets ($299) and the AE stores ($399).

Per my post yesterday, I contacted one of the Boston stores to inquire about the shell sale. He indicated that the shell shoes were coming in at full price. However, I received a follow up email from the same store mgr today who confirmed that the shell cordovan sale starts today, 3.17.12 through 4.1.12. He passed along the same list elbastardocalvo posted above:

"Patrick,

I was informed yesterday the following Cordovan Styles are on sale effective March 17th – April 1st:

MacNeil 9177 black cordovan
Bradley 2291 burgundy shell cordovan
Grayson 8287 burgundy cordovan
Westchester 1697 burgundy cordovan
Kenwood 44006 burgundy cordovan
Randolph 4899 black cordovan
Cambridge 8605 black cordovan

The sale price for all of these SKU’s is $399. "

I placed an order on Friday and it was WELL before the close of business, yet they told me the transaction would be done Monday morning and the shoes would ship that afternoon. I wonder if some outlets were getting a jump on the sale?

...Have a pair of burgundy shell MacNeils coming my way!

And now I have black shell Leeds on their way...

Just ordered the Burgundy shell MacNeils. $299 is crazy cheap!

I think we all owe bucksfan a beer. Thanks for the early heads up on the sale! I hope Edward sold a ton of shoes.
