To be honest I think its that the toe cap could use a bit of elongation. The chisel toe looks a bit wide, almost square toed with the short toe cap, seen here:
I just don't think it has the same elegance as say the C&J hallam.

I see your point, but not much compares to the C&J 348 last. I think part of the problem, though, is that AE puts the captoe line too close to the toe, which accentuates the appearance of a short, stubby toe. I've been looking at a C&J Brooks Brothers model and the AE 5th Avenue lately and this seems to be the major difference between the two. I think if the captoe line on this shoe were moved closer to the laces it would look even better. Still, I am really liking this new 3 last from AE; it's a breath of fresh air from them.

What you guys think of the Bradley?
I think it's not boring like the park avenue's (sorry) has a bit of character IMO. My question is, is this style going to be timeless?

Good with business casual, not so much with a suit.

Looks cool as I was considering a red Neumok. These are lined, I think.  The rubber sole seems to be a plus for a casual shoe.

Those are pretty cool, if a bit limited in their versatility. The Dark Brown could be a nice winter shoe.

I have the AE soho in saddle, which was a captoe with the captoe line closer to the laces. It's one of my favorite shoes.

I definitely agree with the cap toe distance which is why I never liked the Fifth Avenue. Another factor I think is the actual length of the toe box from the ball area. Although most AE owners would say the 5 last is one of the sleekest and longest, the distance from the ball (widest part of the shoe) to the tip of the toe is really not that long. Besides the shape of the toe box, the length is a big factor. The distance from the ball to the tip on my C&J dress shoes (348 & 337) is definitely longer than that of my AE Fifth Street. I used to own an AE shoe on the 0 last (same as the SoHo) and it had a longer ball to toe which made it look elongated.

Honestly, J&M does the styling on the cap toe so much better. Their quality is just not in the same league these days.

But also include the Clifton. Great looking captoe, thought in a blucher style. Nordstrom still has them, I think.

EDIT: And the Peals are terrific!

Me too.  It's why I'm considering a Brooks Brothers Peale shoe instead of the Fifth Avenue.

I bought and returned two pair of the Peal captoes. The last was very unforgiving to my high arches. The quality was clearly superior to AE or Alden though.
