I don't think they have or had seconds marks on the sole. The reason I say "had" is because I've installed a rubber sole on the bottom. However, I don't recall any holes, markings, or "W" on the exterior or interior of the shoe.

What I find interesting is the interior branding of the shoe, which is horizontal. Could this indicate that they were a vintage or older model? I've included a few pictures below of the branding, eyelets, and size.

With that interior, they're at least 20 years old.

My 5th Ave.s are from 1988 (26 years old), and while the insole of my 5ths look exactly the same as yours, mine are 6 eyelets. So if they are AE 5th Ave.s they must be even older!

Seconds question:

I see that Allen Edmonds just added a lot of new styles to their seconds bank, which were not available during their 2-for-$250 sale a week or two ago.  Does anybody know if its possible to return one of the pairs I bought and exchange them for a different color, or a different shoe altogether, that was not available during the sale?

Thank you very much for the replies everyone! It's interesting to know I bought shoes that have lasted for decades, evidence of AE's commitment to quality.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to care for leather shoes, or links that they have found very detailed and useful from their experience? I am a complete stranger to the quality shoe world, and I want to keep my shoes in the best condition possible. I own a shoe care kit from Jos. A. Bank which includes a horsehair brush, black and brown shoe creams, black edge dressing, and a cotton cloth.

Once again, thanks very much for the help.

Best thing to do is to ask THEM. Here, we can only guess.

Awesome thanks, classic case of them looking better in person than they do on the web. I'll call this week to order.

Quick question guys, are the Cambridges essentially McAllisters in Shell Cordovan?

Group Photo with the Hanover and Ridgeway 2/250 additions

The Flatiron is getting a nice patina after only 6 months using Saphir wax that is slightly darker on the toe box

Cambridge has a double oak sole.  McAllister is single sole.

If they're closeouts, they should do it.

For some reason there was a glut of that shoe in most of the sizes I checked. They must have been unpopular, which strikes me as odd since tan pebble/grain longwings is such a classic look.

My last question on the issue was swallowed up by the moderation queue, but does anyone know when to expect that the April sale referenced earlier in the thread will kick off?

Did anyone answer you about the April sale? I'd be curious to know what it entails and when it begins.

Yes. I'm on my phone or I would go check to see who posted it, but the date given was April 11.

This is how the MacNeil in Cognac Dublin looks like in flesh. It's a make up called "Gramercy" AE ran for Urban Daddy in 2012.
