Men - Thanks very much for your support of Allen Edmonds. Just to clear things up as April Fool's Day comes to a close -- this time NO JOKE -- we are exporting our USA production shoes FROM Wisconsin TO Shanghai. It's the Authentic American Styling and Production that our Chinese partners are looking for. They love our "Since 1922" heritage as well as the relationship we've had with famous Americans, such as the Presidents, as well as American leaders in all walks of life. There is no desire on our part to produce shoes in China for ANY market -- there or here -- and no desire on their part to sell local production under our banner.

Good joke, though. It made its way through to me in pretty fast time after one of our lurking store managers discovered it (pre-joke acknowledgement).

To summarize what I said there, it's NOT plausible and NO Chinese shoes are coming. It would be like the Coca-Cola Company changing the formula for its Colas to Lemon-Lime sodas, but trying to sell them under the red Coke label. Not going to happen.

Does anyone have a good pic of the Bourbon IRL? I feel like the pic on the AE site doesn't accurately represent the actual shoe, compared to an ad in the Harry Rosen magazine I recently saw.

I'm sorry, but are you serious? That's what the last few posts have been. You really should be able to look up a post or two on your own. Once again, I'm not trying to be condescending here, but the thread involves some giving to go along with the taking.

It's tough to resist working your way through this thread, but you're absolutely right! His previous posts on the forum were in separate threads (interview and a question of the provenance of uppers). I'm glad he finally stopped in, and I hope he does it a lot more often.

Yes, I saw those. To clarify though, I was trying to find a picture that had BOTH of the colors (walnut and bourbon) taken outside so I could see how they compare.

I saw the person above me - it had only the bourbon taken outside.
I searched google and found images of the two colors side by side, but only in indoor lighting.

So, sorry if my post sounded redundant, but at no point in this thread was the answer to my question solved.

- This photo might be taken outside, but I can't tell for sure. It looks more like indoor lighting in someone's bedroom.

That picture was actually taken inside (my bedroom). It captures the difference between walnut and bourbon, but it doesn't truly capture either as well as the outdoor images above. If you really want an outdoor picture of walnut and bourbon, I can try to snap a picture tomorrow.

I hope you didn't take offense, but when I read your post, I thought you just wanted one of the following:
- a picture of bourbon shoes
- a picture of bourbon shoes in outdoor lighting
- a picture of bourbon shoes next to others colors

With that assumption, you can see how the question seemed answered.

Thanks. I really do love them. I had been waiting the 6-8 weeks, and was pleasantly surprised when they showed up at about 4 1/2. Though I had to rejigger my evening to spend the time to prepare them for wearing today. Thanks for joining us here and chiming in on this forum. I think I speak for all of us when I say we very much appreciate your presence, and all you do for AE.

Just received my first pair of AE shoes today: walnut calf McAllisters. I won't post a bunch of pictures because you've all seen them a million times. They are "firsts" shipped right from the factory. I have a few questions that maybe you all with more experience can comment on. 1) Have a look at the distinct color variation on the left shoe. There is a noticeable line where the color is a few shades different. Can I fix that with a little polish or is that there forever? Does that make these returnable for some of you? In person it is more noticeable in my opinion than in this picture. 2) When I was measured in the store my right foot came out 8D and my left 8.5D. My left has always been a little larger. We tried the 8.5 and both agreed that it was just big and was slipping too much. He felt that 8D would be perfect and I've been reading that with this last it's normal to go down a half size (in my case 8.5 to 8). There were no 8D in the store at all to try (even in a different style with same last) so they were ordered and shipped. While I was waiting for these to arrive I popped into another AE store and tried on some other styles with the same last (Park Ave). Just for kicks I tried a 7.5D and while the right was perfect, the left was too snug for my liking but this particular clerk thought 7.5 should be my size and that the left would stretch. I'm having the opposite problem with these in 8D; the left is perfect and the right feels ever slightly too big with a tiny bit of slip. So, they always say go up to meet your larger foot. Either way, one is going to fit perfectly well and the other will have some issue. I'd rather have the right be ever so slightly large than the left be too tight. Ultimately my question is, what do others do and if I went with 7.5, should I expect the left one to stretch? I'm afraid to wear them for a few months only to learn that they are not stretching and be stuck with them. 3) I notice some gaping on both shoes near the ankle area. Is this normal? Will it get worse? It doesn't seem to effect the comfort as best I can tell from walking around the carpet in my bedroom for ten minutes. Thanks!

I suppose getting the larger size is the way to go. Try a heel or tongue pad on the right shoe. The other option is to return them and use their MTO option. You can pick from several models, pick pretty much any color they offer, but most importantly, you can pick different sizes for the left and right shoes. There is a premium charge for this service.
