 at least they are the same color. Someone was clearly wearing unfitted pants with those.

How awful is it that it took me five to ten seconds to discern the exact problem?
Don't feel too bad.....the first thing I noticed was the difference in the cap-toe's, then the number of eyelets, and THEN the fact that one is a balmoral and the other is a blucher, lol

lol...is the other shoe even an AE? AE cortland?

It doesn't appear to have the AE insole. I could also swear that it's on a wider last (the first thing I noticed about it).

At any rate, whoever paid $100 for those is going to be sorely disappointed. But, hey, free shipping?

I would like to have a rotation of 3 AE shoes, I will eventually add a black pair, I already own the walnut strands. What else would you guys recommend? Here is what I am considering.
Thanks!

Strand in walnut, PA in black. Fifth Avenue in dark brown, and MacNeil in burgundy. The only four dress shoes you really neeed.

Out of the three above I would chose the Weybridge but in brown or black (in that order). I don't like the shoe in lighter colors. Some don't like bulled shoes. But in this shoe bulling the toes look great. The shoe (in my opinion) are relatively sleek and has a decent shaped toe.

If you had asked for the three AE's without mentioning any I would have suggested:
Fifth Aves - Black
Strand Cordovan - Brown
Cambridge Cordovan - Burgundy

just got the factory seconds jeffersons today I have to say this one really really good shoes!!! double sole nice leather, it even came with bags. But too bad that I found out that 10.5E is the wrong size for me on the 5 last. I needed a 10.5D/10E. So these are going back to AE...they ran me about $275.

Hope you get the right size/fit. Materials, soles, accessories, etc. won't mean much until you get the size that works. Are you able to go to an AE store? They might be able to help. Good luck!

Is the Nordstrom anniversary sale online?  Would I need to worry about stock for any of the Allen Edmonds shoes?

Pre-sale was usually two weeks before the actual sale date which was usually reflected online much like the half-yearly. This is Nordstroms bread and butter since its new product (Fall) at the 30% discount; rarely did I see AE's completely sold out since all stores HAD to have at least 1 size run of every item featured in the catalog and so forth. Hope this helps...

You're not the only one who took awhile to spot the problems. Me too!
1. Cap toe
2. No. of eyelets
3. One a Balmoral the other a Bulcher
4. One an AE the other one ???
5. The left shoe looks 1/2 size larger
Love to see the new owner's face when he finally discover the above and more ...

Took delivery of my Shell Cordovan AE Cambridge this week. A 6 week wait, but well worth it. These babies are competing for my favorite AEs with my Strands.

Beautiful Cambridges, sazon, enjoy wearing them. I like those soles, a little different than they used in the past.

^ yeah my PAs are calf.  I'm not fond of black cordovan either.  Like you said, it's rubbery.
Would get the Cambridge in calf if I did end up picking up a pair

Black cordovan is different. I like the way it creases much better than calf's microcreases. Plus, it has a depth of shine that is unique to cordovan.

New Allen Edmonds Boot
I was at my local menswear / shoe store and they were showing me photos of a new boot that is supposed to be out this Fall. Think McTavish boot - wingtip low/medium rise balmoral boot with Rough Collection double soles. The colors shown - blue (like Neumok), dark brown, and light brown (not as light at McTavish).
I'm looking forward to the Fall 2012 AE collection - from the previews I've seen, there are going to be some nice items available.
Chris

That sounds great - thanks for the heads-up!

I agree with these recommendations. Plus, they are all on the same 5 last, which is a classic and well-fitting last generally.
