Help id these AEs I bought @ a thrift. The model name of the sole has been washed out, but I think it begins with a B. Thanks in advance:

Here are some pics of the shoes I got in the 2 for $200 sale. From left to right, they are the Rush, Presidio and Player's Shoe. I am particularly fond of the Player's Shoe, as I love the walnut color.

The outlet store accidentally sent me a second pair of the Player's Shoe in 10D, which I am in the process of returning. If anyone else is sending back a shoe in the 2 for $200 deal and looking for another pair to replace them, these might work. You could try contacting Julie at the Shoebank.

Thx for the heads up. Do you know if the sizing chart is accurate? I am a 10D, bit from what I've read different AE shoes require to size up or down so I just want to make sure that the sizes I get will work for future purchases

I am a 10D and the Medium in the Epic works in all my shoes. 1 Last is perfect for the Epic IMO and what most of my shoes are on. With the balmorals on the 5 last the peak of the vamp is just a bit high but really it doesn't cause an issue from what I can tell. You can either not tie them tightly and leave a bit of a gap before inserting the trees to reduce the tension or sand the peak of the tree down a bit if you want. Takes 30 seconds on the sanding station and likely not much longer by hand with sandpaper. Cedar is a pretty soft wood and easy to shape. I'm replacing my Rochester split toes\combination trees with the Epics as I feel they provide a better fit. Then again most of them are pretty old and the springs have lost most of their tension due to compression over the years.

Seconded. I'm a 12d and have boh L and XL epics. The XLs are just a bit too big for most of my shoes, but fit great in my Leeds. I tend to use split toe AE trees in my 7 last shoes, solid toe AE trees in my 5 last shoes, and Epics in my 1 last shoes and boots and all loafers.

I sand down the outer portion of the toe on my solid toe AE trees, to make them fit better in my 5 last shoes.

What color AE polish do you guys recommend for burnished brown (Mora's). Should I go with dark brown, mocha, saddle?

Question on shoe trees. The Ultra and Epic trees were mentioned and the Cedarville link for them all seemed to show width "E". Does that mean that those shoe trees are not appropriate for C and D width shoes? That would be too bad because they look very nice.

They would fit the range up to an 'E' width is what I assume it means which is inclusive of C & D widths. For example, if a tree is sized 6D to 8E, it assumes that sizes in between (i.e., 8C, 8D) would also work.

Unless you want to want to darken the leather, typically use polish just a shade lighter than the actual color.

Maybe not the best quality photo, but this is my pair of Chili Delrays in the middle (as another poster said, almost the same shoe as the Lasalle), and a pair of Brown Lasalles on the left for comparison. Hope it helps!

That actually helps out a lot. I went to Von Maur (only place that sells Allens here) and took a look at their small selection. They had a couple slip ons in Chili, and I feel like I want something a little darker than the Walnut Cliftons I have.

I tried on the Park Avenues in the same size as my Cliftons (10.5D) and they were comfortable, which surprised me since I didn't expect to like both the 5 last and the 8 last. Has anyone else experienced this? Are those two lasts somewhat similar? It has me seriously considering the Kenilworths in dark brown on sale sine they are also on the 5 last.

Tried the Daltons at the store today. They fit like a dream, I think I'm a fan now...

Only problem is, I can only justify one new pair of shoes this month, and I have a beat on a pair of new JL's at steep discount that I also want.

Ow the drama, I blame SF, I did not have problems like this in the old days :plain:

I tried on a pair of the Daltons (dark chocolate calf) last week in the AE store in Union Square. I loved everything about them (fit, look, colour), but I didn't want to pay full retail. I found them online at a slightly reduced price and with a 10% promo code. I was able to place the order, but the following day they called and said the colour/size I wanted was out of stock. They contacted manufacturer (AE) and were told it would be about 9 weeks before they would be available. I have purchased 2 pairs of Neumok (olive and red) as well as Rockport Day to Night Wing Tip (blue) in the last 2 weeks. I now have 9 weeks to save up for the Daltons!

I have similar shoes that look the exact color as those Mora's. I would recommend using AE's Dark Brown Polish to polish them. That is if you are looking for a polish over a conditioner / wax only. What I usually do with my AE's is cleaner/conditioner twice on new shoes. Than one or two coats of polish on them, then follow it up with a wax on the toe cap to bring a mirror shine.

I picked up Spray Waterproofer ( says Silicone free) from Allen Edmonds store. I was about to spray it on my shoes but in their website the video says not to spray on calf skin shoes. I am confused. Can I use it on my Strand and Clifton?
