How is that possible? Unless all you have him do is hem pants, I'd find a new tailor.

I think Skinny ****** lives in NJ and really likes his tailor. He might have a rec for you.

EuroTailor in Hamilton Sq on RT 33 does a fantastic job. Hand sewn.

And also Franco on 206 near the brunswick circle, I've seen his work on Kiton suits and its very nice, also hand sewn.

Both go for about $80/jacket.

It's very possible. It requires a dedicated machine to cut button holes, and many tailors don't have em. Especially way the hell out here in west texas!

Aren't buttonholes cut by hand using a chisel-like tool?

Well if your tailor does em like that, then hope you get a good price

Sewing is older than sewing machines, but you don't see any tailor today without one

I don't think that's correct. My tailor sends them out because whoever he sends them to can sew more nicely than he, but I don't think it's a question of having the necessary equipment. It's a time-intensive and presumably finicky task.

Well you're right about that. But essentially it's like asking your tailor to do all his work w/o a sewing machine

A hand sewing costs more money since it takes more time and skill. Still even a good seamstress should be able to handle this. A full on tailor shouldn't blink.

Well they certainly blink out here in west texas. I've called over five tailors, ranging from cheap to very expensive, who won't do it because they don't have the button-hole machine.

I've had the same experience here in Edmonton. I still don't know of a tailor in Edmonton who has any of these machines.

Do any of these tailors make suits? Pants? Anything that takes buttons?

How do they manage?
