Experience with Sony Vaio?

does anyone have any experience with Sony Vaio laptops? I'm looking to buy a laptop right now and I saw a Vaio with 4GB RAM and 400 GB of storage. Would I be satisfied with a Vaio? FWIW I will be using the laptop mainly for school. I have a desktop I use for personal use, and the laptop will basically be convenient for me to have so I can do work during breaks at school/take notes.

i dont know, but of rme VAIO is such a style. I like the design. Cause for me the spec that Vaio given is more than enough.

The quality is pretty good but you pay a premium for it. They tend to know their stuff if you're looking for reviews of a specific model

Newer ones are kinda crappy, have had a lot of problems.

VAIO's are more multimedia-friendly than other brands. Brighter screens and more card slots.

I have some friends who have vaios. They all have problems with the laptop overheating and when it overheats it gets really loud. You can fix it by opening it up and blowing away the dust with compressed air but you'd have to do it every couple of months.

I bought my Vaio around 4 years ago, a VGN-SZ2XP/C with carbon fiber lid. It's still going strong and looks better than most laptops today. I only stopped using it when I moved to a MacBook Pro. http://www.notebookreview.com/defaul....83+GHz+-+13.3 If I was buying another Windows-based laptop, it would only be a Vaio.

Older Vaios had a lot of issues. I've had two of them with all kinds of problems. New ones: dunno.

I had one for about a year and a half before I broke it. Worked well but wasn't as sturdy as I would have liked.

Avoid by all means:

Lots of junk-wear, horrendous customer support, overpriced, reliability issues (I've owned 2 of them)

Look good+nice screen, but worthless otherwise

Amazingly, the best experience I've had has been with Lenovo laptops.

I've had the NS110E for about a year now and it's a great, solid laptop. No problems with it so far.

I have a Sony Vaio P-Series. It's tiny and weighs a little more than a pound. I love it! It's great for travel and for use in meetings.

this is the one I'm looking at. I checked the site KitAkira offered, but they did not seem to have this series. According to the bestbuy site, the series is NW and the model number is VGNNW150DS. Anyone ever hear of this series? It supposedly has the best battery life in the Vaio lineup which is a plus. Thanks for you help guys!

The processor is obsolete and slow as death...the hard drive capacity is very good, it's speed not quite.

what makes you say this? I'm not too big into computers so I'm not very good at translating the specs. I have a very basic knowledge regarding computers. FWIW under processor speed it says 2.1 GHz. I only found two dell computers that were higher(2.4, 2.53), but they also had a dismal battery life (3.5 hours each).
