I thought the purpose of pleats in the back of the shirt was to create fullness in the mid/lower portion of the shirt by adding material. Why would they use a center back pleat on their extra-slim shirt? Or, am I wrong about the use of pleats?

I think you are wrong. All of my Black Fleece shirts have a center back pleat. THey are pretty slim.

Too bad these new shirts are only BD collar.

I wonder when this will be available in stores? Just want to try them to see the fit...

I am interested in this too. I bought two slim shirts last time, one with central back pleat and one without it. The one with central back pleat did feel fuller because the fabric in the pleat easily stretched out during the move. The one without the pleat fit perfectly. I am probably too thin for the slim shirts.

Agreed. It's much better than the original Extra-Slim with the contrast collar and logo.

A box pleat usually doesn't jive with an 'extra slim fit shirt'. If the pleat wasn't there I guess it would be extra, extra slim fit?

Online says these aren't available until September. I'm hoping it's sooner.
