Is it just me, or is Vass just copying designs from other shoemakers?

Now, we can all wait for JL SJ to sue every shoe maker out there for making semi brogue oxfords. Or JL to sue for double monks.

Or better yet, G&G to sue AS or Churchs to sue Cheaney.

When did the new store open? When I was there over the summer, I was less than pleased with the store and the employees working in it.

Yes, because most iGents do not favour traditional AH lasts. Vass has found a market niche by focussing on non-traditional lasts such as the F, U, K (funny how that reads) that are more familiar to buyers. High quality, hand lasted MTO shoes that resemble English makers at a better price point are in high demand if this thread is any indication.

I was there yesterday. Small store, lovely shoes on display, staff was surprising unhelpful, but after threathening to walk out at two seperate occassions, I did get some lovely shoes.

What are people doing when moving between different lasts? I have a pair in the F, which fit well, and am looking at getting a couple pairs in P2 or 3636, down half a size?

My first pair of Vass. Apologies for the ****** pictures, but they're nothing out of the ordinary.

Can someone enlighten me...

Will a lighter or darker colour be preferred for a patina to develop over time? Antique cognac vs dark cognac for a patina?

Hi all,

Sorry for cluttering up the Appreciation thread with non-Appreciation, but after much searching and reading, I am having trouble pinning down current and consistent information on ordering from Vass. I want to order a pair of derbies on the F-last. Advice on the following would be *greatly* appreciated:

1. What is the best current way to order? Direct via email as given at http://www.vass-cipo.hu/Index.html ?

I have seen mention of SF member Kolecho for Vass purchases, and also an eBay store - any advantages over direct contact with Vass?

2. For anyone who owns shoes on both Alden Plaza (ideally 7.5D) and Vass F-last, what were your respective sizes? I'm thinking either 40 or 40.5.

3. Does Vass do a rubber sole like the EG Thames at all, or just topy as per these beauties that rikod purchased?

400

Thanks for any and all help, I am really looking forward to the Vass experience after reading about them!

Cheers,
Hal

PS If anyone who has made a recent purchase could provide some guidance by PM, that would be swell.
