i think there is a fine balance between trying too hard and pulling it off successfully. im comfortable in my current aesthetics, however the hedi continues to influence the "look" i want to achieve. i think the best way to pull of both the APC aesthetics with some Hedi hints is to choose the refined, dressed up designs from Dior Homme(i.e., suits, blazers, dress shoes). i know i can't pull off the slouch tee, distressed jeans, or high top sneakers. it's just not my style, and if i tried i know i will be self-conscoious. say i pick up a pair of skinnies, keep my BoO/MJK shirts, throw on his signature black blazer or leather jacket, and pair it up with a slim dress shoe.

(helmut lang oxfords courtesy of chronoaug) do you guys think i should sell the boots and jacket? the ro jacket seems to fit more kunk/socal style and seems rather conflicting if i wear it with my current look. the boots have a low sole and seems too "sleek".

The blackscissors / rick jacket looks good. This is what I want in a leather jacket.

The jeans could be slimmer. The new 3sixteen jeans could be killer for this:

Get some awesome boots. Not fashion-y. Get something that's going to last, and break them in. Over time, they will look awesome. Indy's might be too big.

I have an old pair of RM Williams I'm going this to. I'm stripping the colour, and dyeing them black, with a matte finish.

Don't shave every day. Don't moisturise. Keep your hair low maintenance. I give mine a blade.

I don't think many people who can pay for dior homme can really pull it off - you really need to be antisocial personality to intrinsically dress that way - anarchronistic, high as a kite, crushed, sunglasses in doors, hair that you just let grow.

Reminds me of my patients.

Edit:

Agree with Socal except for the shoes.

Please don't sell that leather, its awesome.

Do people do washed, distressed leather jacket and MC style dress shoes?

I vote good boots.

What about Augusta? SoCal, show him the way. Augusta footwear is awesome.

And will make MC forumites hate you.

I like the jacket. I really don't like those shoes in the pic though. Like i said, some black coated skinnies and some cheapish military style black boots and you're set. Easy peasy

What size are you? I may be selling my black ring coated skinnies. Can't tell what size you are. Hem and front rise are crazy small though (but top block and thighs aren't too constricting)

i usually wear a 32, but true waist is closer to 33. what size are they? the jeans im wearing above are slightly slimmer than NS. they are filippa k sams. waist: 32, thigh: 11, knee: 8.5 hem: 7.6, inseam: 32 i doubt this will work aesthetically, but i got a pair of BoO Nylon boots in the mail. think it will work with jacket (though this leaning away from Dior and more hip preppy)?

^^ i had an old triumph scrambler back in college. sold it in med school.

my gf wants me to get a vespa for the commute, but i think that would throw off my dior homme silhouette

IMO, lose the boots, keep the jacket. You could have gone for a little bit of a cleaner jacket, ie no ribbing, less stitching - the washed leather/high collar is enough to give you a bit of an edge. I think you should try some of the more basic DH pieces, like their polos and collared shirts.

For footwear, there were some NDCs posted in WAYNT a while back, I think they might suit your purpose.

what do you think about this jacket? it's from dior f/w 05? i tend to like things symmetrical, rather than drapey/avant-gard. the ro is beautiful though i have to say.
