I wouldn't wear them with a suit, but I rather like these embossed loafers as a casual shoe.

Croc shoes can be quite soft and pliable, though I've never seen croc that was as soft and pliable as nice calf. They're about on par with calf in the durability department. You don't need special conditioners for croc like you do for snake and lizard. It's nice leather, but the real reason for the premium is its relative rarity and the fact that people will pay for it.

The question was "what to wear with brown crocodile shoes?" Is was not, do you like croc shoes or can I sell you a pair. If you can't give a postive reply to help the poster, why reply at all?

You can't use wax polish, you will need special conditioners. They are cleaned the same as gator and lizard shoes.

I'm sorry!

If they are slip-ons I think that would be a great summer look to wear them tan or beige trousers and a sportscoat or blazer, especially with a fitting and slimmer croc leather belt.
Depending on how they exactly look I would even try to accomodate the wristlet of your watch if it doesn't look like "too much".
I would also consider a linnen suit (maybe slightly wrinkled^^) in lighter colours.
But I'm unsure how to pair them with more formal wear (if they are Oxfords or so).

Alright then, if they are slip-ons I'd pair them with chinos, linen pants and dressier shorts.

They are usually worn with "Friday suits" on less formal occasions. What is probably the best known Apparel Arts illustration shows a man wearing a large scale black and white herringbone suit with dark brown croc oxfords.

I like the two tie bluchers in dark brown croc shown in EG's Top Drawer brochure.

Not you, but these type of replies:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A purple four-button suit and a walking stick with a skull on it?

And definitely a faux-sable coat."

"Depends. You work at a zoo?"

I dont' think so. For instance, I know lizard and snake don't get taken care of the same way as crocodilians. Maybe there is a special conditioner for croc/gator, but it isn't the same as snake and lizard.

You're right in that wax isn't generally used on them, but cream is. I should have been more specific.

The ebay example you linked to:

I think they'd look good with corduroy, perhaps a corduroy suit. Good contrast of different textures.

Not all croc shoes are Mauri specials. SOme of the examples posted are nice, there are a lot of vintage styles that are tasteful. The AA illustration should end all "in every case" arguments against. Grey works well with brown, cream or grey or olive linen works well in summer. They can look quite nice with a lighter colored summer suit.

Not all Mauri are "Mauri specials". Mauri also makes gators and crocs in trad colors and trad styles.

Is wax bad for reptile leathers? I have used wax before on croc and lizard skin shoes and have never noticed any issues. I should add that I use it very lightly, though.

I normally use a reptile conditioner made by DYO, it seems to work well.
