Today at Keezers (cantabs know) I found an incredibe corneliani navy blazer. summer weight, best drape I've ever met, canvassed, high gorge, it just plain rules (no vent, but beggars can't be chosers). However, I don't like the gold buttons. I know, I know, "heritage" "tradition" etc, but I just don't like them

. If this were a brooks brothers or an oxxford I'd leave them, but this is a distincly italian blazer we're talking about here, so I'm looking for substitutions. The problem, of course, is I want buttons that will make it clear I'm not wearing an orphaned jacket. What, other than gold, can I use to differentiate this blazer from a navy suitcoat?

I don't like bright gold buttons either. Other metals, such as dull brass, silver, bronze, turned steel, etc. could be used. The ones on the Oxxford blazers like Doc and AlanC have are nice.

Glossy dark brown horn also looks great.

I want to do exactly this with an orphaned navy Zegna Su Misura jacket. I really dislike gold buttons.

How many buttons are supposed to be on the sleeves? I thought blazers had four and suit jackets had three, or vise versa?

What size buttons are standard on the sleeve and down the front?

Try pewter. It's definitely blazerish, but it's subdued. Or do what I did and go with smoked mother of pearl.

Yeah, these buttons are the perfect solution, in my book. Traditional, but not too "ahoy, captain!"
