Although it is a very nice shirt this example shows the puckling near the button holes and button attachment to be excessive, and the buttonholes hand finish is all but good on a number of them. For me these are all defects that should not be there. If handwork needs to be done, then needs to be done properly otherwise misses the point.

On a separate note, over the years I have had only 2 shirts that after several washing started unrevealing at the shoulder handfelled seam. Having never done that before, I figure to knot a new thread at the point that was still fixed and have replicated the handfelled stitches for the length necessary, securing it with several and arches and knot at the underarm. Years later have had no further problems.

In the past 24 hours this thread has taken geekdom to a whole new level.

I mean that in a good way.

I think.

You're right. The full Vox is only one step away from the full monty.

The seamstress also has an incentive to make a smaller buttonhole, since it takes her longer to make a bigger one. It's not really an issue with a machine that runs at 3250+ RPM.

what kind of ball bearings does a machine running at that speed need?

For shirts like these to age properly they literally need to be cared for by . . .

1 - putting in a pail of siloxane, swished around by hand,
2 - soaked in a fabric relaxing solution,
3 - soft water hand swish with SanitoneÂ

enzyme detergent,
4 - hung to dry,
5 - sprayed with soft water and put in a plastic bag overnight, and
6 - handpressed . . .

At least that is what I have learned from Kabbaz, Stubloom, and Laliquette.

Or, you can send them to Rave Fabricare . . .

See, there is some worth to these forums after all . . .
