Though on my salary there is no way hermes is a possible item

Thanks for the comment - I merely asked here because it's the main thread I open.

A couple of quick questions

Does anyone know where i can buy decent shoe tress in Sydney or Canberra for that matter?

And where can I pick up Collinil shoe polish?

And lastly can anyone recommend a good Thai restaurant in the Newtown Enmore area? Went to Banks Thai on Friday night, first time in about 7 years and the food was tragic.

thanks

Try Aquilla or the cloak room; both stock it here in Bris

Don't know about Sydney - but almost every hole in the wall shoe repair in the suburbs here has Collinol.

Actually, it's just me: ZegnaGent the infrequent.

Got tired of typing in my misspelt user name, realised I don't even wear much Zegna nowsadays, and decided to go with a new nic, given that I'd gone back into MA training since late 2008.

Anyway, I picked up an MJ Bale charcoal suit - one of their core - about two weeks ago, and I have to admit... I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Like that it has full canvassing. Indifferent to the surgeon's cuffs... BTDT.

Love the silhouette of the suit jacket however. They've actually accomodated for the use of a dark green Hermes breast wallet in the cut of the jacket, so that when you place said wallet in inner breast pocket, thus pissing off PETA - green cows are an endangered species - the jacket still retains its shape without any printing whatsoever. This is a rarity in my experience.

Downside I've experienced with Bale to date? Unimpressed with their seasonal collection; HB seems to select better fabrics overall. Also, I don't like their sportsjackets much. But that's just me; to each their own.

Haven't given up on Herringbone at all, but it's nice to have a few alternative haberdashers.

Next up: Ring Jacket through The Armoury!

Cheers,

Also, Geoff Firmin - Coombs in the Strand in Sydney has a good range of Colonil shoe polish and also some decent German cedar shoe trees for about $50.

+1 on both counts.

Worth getting those shoes trees, Wraith; they can be adjusted for tightness via screws, and they'll fill your shoes pretty well.

Better than the Flosheim ones imo.

Cheers

David Jones Winter 11 catalog arrived in my letterbox this morning. Had a quick flick through - awesome looking outfits for the girls. Men's section was a pure letdown. The dress shirt page was okay with Thomas Pink and Herringbone (not available in Perth though), but I am not after shirts. I saw two things that I liked - a black pointed bow tie and a double breasted cardigan. Although I will probably source the bow-tie online in a no-doubt better quality. Suits and blazers had razor thing lapels and I would assume very low quality. Shoes were pointy as hell and presumably low quality too. The varsity section they had going looked like absolute crap, all label/patch covered rubbish. I'm looking for some denim at the moment (SW&D style not MC). Jeans were all skin tight, had an awful wash or were pre-ripped.

I havn't been to many places in the Newtown area but I have been to Thai Pothong which was quite decent. Tom yum soup, soft shell crabs and snapper with garlic and pepper were great.
