I have never heard of anyone having a problem with returning an item at Nordstrom. They're policy is the most liberal of any retail establishment I've ever seen.

If you don't have any of those things, they may fuss but they have to return it.

Do they really have to accept a return if you don't have a receipt or credit/debit card that you used for the purchase? If that was the case, then anybody can just bring in anything off the street and demand a refund. I read the tire story posted above, and obviously that's a little extreme, but I still think it's crazy that they would just accept returns on anything without any proof that you actually bought it there.

I think now they put stickers or scan the bar code in and no longer require the receipt or card for a refund.

That's exactly what I experienced the other day.

I returned a topcoat and all they had to do was scan the barcode which seemed to have given the salesperson the transaction number and thus, the credit account with which I paid and was to be credited.

I rather didn't like it because I took great care to be sure I had my receipt with me and I wasn't rewarded for me effort.

No, "oh, good, you brought your receipt with you!" response.

Yes! Unless you look like some crackhead bum who is obviously trying to get over on them, they will return it especially if you put up a fuss. The only catch though, is that they have a computer in the back that will bring up the last sale price of the shoe and if you don't have proof of purchase, then most likely you will get a lower value, especially if that shoe has ever been 'on sale.' The tire story is true but it is only because Nordstrom used to sell tires a long time ago (they had an automotive section, like Sears). So when the person came to return it, the salesperson did so because that was a product they carried in the not so distant past. Obviously this will not work anymore. Being kind and honest will get you a long way at Nordstrom, trust me. I worked there and the people who just told me the truth and were sincere, I would gladly help but if you try and get over on them, you won't get as friendly service.

Any experience?

If it's creasing on your toes, the shoes are probably too large. I would return/exchange after being properly measured.

They gave me a new $300 Ferragamo belt a year later because it didn't fit anymore.
