I just can't bring myself to wear alligator. It might have something to do with the fact that I grew up in Louisiana and knew many of them personally.

I don't understand the insistence on tubo. It's like wearing rigatoni.

In spite of the fact that my first serveral posts were a tad light-hearted ... I understand where you are coming from. Just forgive the dangling preposition.

These are the times I don't hesitate to call on others including my tailors, shirtmakers, etc ... and ask if they have any leads. Perhaps you have ... but if not ... you might be surprised.

It's a belt that, rather being a strip of leather to show sewn to another as backing, is a wider strip rolled in a tube and pressed flat. That way even the side you can't see is made of the good stuff.

Croc belts are for pussies. My next commission will be a crocodile suit. Patch pocket DB (with "drape") and trousers with 2 inch cuff and forward pleats.

I have those from my maker. Quite expensive. Special order only.

Makes sense, like a one-piece croc-only belt.

Analogy would be like a true seven-fold tie where it's just a large piece of silk?

Really have them but don't carry them in house due to the cost and demand. There is no backing, the front and back are the same. Crocodile pattern is better looking than alligator IMO. The size/scale is different. I know better than to joke in a Foo thread.

^I hear, maybe incorrectly, that croc skin by itself is fragile and therefore need the backing of other leather.

If true, would that not make the one piece tubo kinda fragile?
