Hi guys I'm new to this forum so am wondering if this is the right place to ask. I've recently got a pair of Red Wing Chukka Boots 3143. It's suede and the sales assistant told me to use Silicon Waterproofing on it to protect it. However, I've seen some thread saying boots are screwed up after using that. I hope someone can advise on what product to use for my new purchase. Thanks in advance

I've had good results with Woly Suede Protector on my suede chukkas - darker suede admittedly.

^ Thanks for your recommendation.
Should i just wear it first for a few months before applying any protector?
More recommendations will be deeply appreciated.=)

no, spray some protector product on it before wearing it. The protector keeps dirt from penetrating the leather and makes it easier to remove. Meltonian and Kiwi both make suede protector sprays that in my experience work well and don't change the color if used properly. Do 2 applications prior to wear.

Also get a suede brush with an eraser on it (available at wal mart or drug stores) and use that to get off any marks as you wear them
