Have not tried it but I am skeptical it beats Souveran. Souveran just rocks.

How does this compare in time and effort to shining a pair of shoes?

Depends on the condition of the paint but it should be between 3-6 hours and in some cases a multi day process.

wash, clay, paint cleaner, glaze then wax is about 3 hours. If you need to polish add another 3 hours( may be slower then others at polishing but I like to take my time).

It takes me exactly one episode of Lawst to shine a pair of shoes.

to wax your car should only take you about 30 minutes depending on the size.

I have tried Dodo wax and its great. You get some awesome beading action.
