I got my "invite" to join the TTS yesterday (a really thick black business card with red writing on it that just has "TTS" and the website on the back).

It's been on my radar for about a month and it is basically a private member's cocktail bar a la Milk and Honey in NYC. Undisclosed location (although already leaked), no signage out front, strict "House Rules", and a current membership fee of $285. All the cocktail mixers are house made, making it a prohibition-era type establishment for the well-to-do. While my interest is piqued, I am not yet biting.

You do not need to be "invited" to join, as they are accepting applications and I imagine anyone over the requisite age of 25 willing to shell the fee will be accepted. Opening in June. (In all likelihood I will end up joining by then because I am a sucker for these things.)

Thoughts? Anyone else have further info?

Would you mind sharing the leaked location? I'm moving back to the Toronto area in June and would definitely consider joining if the location was convenient. PM me if you don't want to post.

Would you send it to me too? I am in Toronto a couple of days a month and I always have some time to kill -- that could be fun! Thanks...

Um..yeah...

Consider that this place will soon be overrun with ignorant mid 20 year olds who want to be seen and boast that they got into such an exclusive club (of course true patrons will be peppered into the crowd). Unfortunately, this is probably just some marketing scheme and you'll probably see this ill conceived idea for what it truly is.

The concept sounds interesting, however, I'm wondering if this is going to end up like the new Roosovelt Room downtown. The idea is classy old-world dinner, drinks and dancing, but form the reviews I've read the staff are terrible, the food is bad and it's just a bunch of late 20-somethings flashing their cash.

For this place to truly work they'd need a non-douchebag dress code, I think.

I'm also interested in the location, can you PM me?

I'd imagine it will be an older and less of a club crowd than Roosevelt has become. Also, I feel Roosevelt wanted to become a party bar - they have drink sponsored events there, etc. etc.

I am hoping TTS will really be more like an urban upscale apres-dinner spot where you'd just as rather attend on a Wednesday night as a Saturday night.

The links says they are limiting membership to 500 members. I can't see that as a sustainable business model. However, I would get a membership. If it turns out to suck, it's not like you skipped a mortgage payment to cover the cost of joining, and it could be a nice place to hang out.

Didn't I read another thread about speakeasies from the NY SF crowd and most of them said it was falling out of style?

Well really, I would not want to belong to something like this when it was in style. Would you?
