How Do You Mail Perfume?

I was interested in sending perfume overseas as a gift, but USPS and FexEx apparently forbid it outright because it's flammable. UPS might allow it but I'd have to contact the manufacturer for a 'Material Safety Data Sheet' indicating the specific alcohol content of the item in question so UPS can assess whether it's within guidelines. No way I'm going through all that for a bottle of perfume. What do people do to (legally) send perfume overseas? Are there any options?

That's a tough one. Any chance you could have another party in the destination country send it for you? Like a drop-ship order?

I am interested if there is a way to do this. I may be getting a job in a foreign country in a few months, but I was thinking about purchasing some fragrances before going. As it is, I may be stretching the rules if I take one 3.4 oz bottle with me.

Well, perfumes in a checked bag aren't prohibited. Rach2jlc takes his bottles with him when he heads overseas.

Now, I will say this - I bought perfume from Amazon the other day and - lo and behond - it arrived second-day-air (UPS), which was a surprise.

I think that packaging makes the difference, and I would surmise that a sealed bag (like a food sealer machine) and lots of absorbent material surrounding the bottle might be a good start.

^^^ Two key questions:

1. Your husband wears perfume?

2. He was overseas for two years and you didn't think to send him your panties?

Okay, I see that you're new. I'm just joking. That was a very good tip for the OP and I forgot this is GC, not DT.

an MSDS is no big deal. i work at sam's club so i have to know what that is lol.

you might be able to find it on the manufacturers website. it wouldn't be a big deal for UPS to assess the content of it, either.

Grandeur's post is probably the spammiest of the lot, but the question does come up. Usually on perfume forums, though.

My posts would be second-most-spammy.

I wanted to give him a surprise, so I went to buy a new bottle and tried posting it out but I was told to provide the MSDS. As I am unable to get hold of that piece of document, I searched online and found a website that does the drop ship. It was efficient and cheap and they post perfumes to most of south east asian countries. If you guys are interested in the website, it is www.pe rfu mes tor e.s g hope I can be of some help here.
