Beat the Clock Fridays), then you would have been there for free wings @ Not Al's Too. My folks are in Solon, so I will be in that area. I'll try to make it over there. Yeah.. even at 30c each, they are only good because of the beer variety. Quaker and Bw3 both better, and still only good in a pinch.
I wasn't in the area at that time, but have heard about the old Clucks. I think Too's has free wings now with a purchase of a bucket of beer, but know they have different owners. I live on High St. across from Little Bar above a store, so am literally down the street from Too's... have to check it out when I am back there. Yeah, if you're in Solon it's not very far. Also check out Game Keeper's Tavern if you're look for a very nice casual dinner on a beautiful patio in Chagrin (reservations very much needed). Also a great place for appetizers+drinks, M-F 4-6, half off appetizers (nice stuff, not standard bar fare) and excellent drink specials. Cuff's is a block away; they are an incredible store

Thats what I do. Renders out a bit of the fat and crisps them up without having to have / clean a deepfryer.

Sauce - Crystal hot sauce, butter, bit of onion & garlic powder, thyme

I use to go to this bar that would char their wings on the grill after deep frying and saucing, **** was so ******* awesome. Unfortunately that bar's long gone, so now i just throw leftover chicken wings from ordering out on the grill.

Oh and some whorchester sauce and tabasco will improve any sauce.

That's a LONG ass time to cook chicken wings. If they are not frozen, they should be done in 30 min or so at that temp.

I'm pretty sure I went to Gamekeeper's with my date before my HS homecoming dance

I hear you. Tough to beat the Ancor bar, where they were invented. Most wing joints royally screw up something so simple. A lot of places deep fry them then keep them in what must be a steamer. You get the wings and they are soggy on the outside. A real wing has been deep fried then the sauce added immediately.

My favorites in the Ohio area are:
1. Buffalo Wild Wings (can't beat the sauce)
2. Quaker Steak and Lube
3. Roadhouse Wings (not the chain, a small restaurant in Hilliard)
4. Cluck-you

Although no restaurants above have it, I really like Duvel with wings. Winking Lizard has Duvel but not the greatest wings.

Winking Lizard wings and food are average chain pub fare, they do have 30 cent wing nights, but still doesn't do anything special for me.

If you're downtown, check out Lola's (a bit more expensive) or Momocho -- neither have wings though

Thurman's Cafe in Columbus has gigantic wings. The sauce is okay but not the best. For me, a bigger wing is not always better. It is the sauce and the deep frying. Proper wings are a bit crispy on the outside.

Winking Lizard would be an awesome place if they just had decent food. The wings are okay, but not great. Cannot beat the beer selection though. Have you done the World Series of Beer Tour?

Are there people who do NOT order a burger there?

+1

Chicago has subpar, small wings at best compared to those I've had in upstate NY. They are also much more expensive.

Accurate.. but not helpful. THe sauce on the devil wings at Boundary is really good, though. And the wings at Bird's Nest are okay too.

You must weigh 1000 lbs, or not order the Thurman Burger. It is appetizer, main course, sides, and dessert all rolled into one for us mere mortals.

Well, before my surgeries, I would go to Thurmans and order 6 wings, a pizza, beer battered onion rings and a Thruman Burger. I was also able to play 6 games of soccer per week. Those days, are obviously over. I am on a strict diet now.

It would be awesome to have a SF wing eating contest in every major city. I would travel and compete. I have an insatiable appetite for wings. I actually won a few contests at BW's several years back.
