You have a specific shirt picked out, but no idea about anything else?

Doesn't 'semi-formal' call for a suit?

Cue the "semi-formal day = stroller" comments. Basically, I agree with this. Wear a suit.

Clearly this would be a massive faux-pas the correct attire is a dinner jacker and board shorts In all seriousness semi-formal sounds like suit territory to me. I would wear a mid grey suit, but that's just because I want a mid grey suit, maybe a cotton one, or other summer weight cloth, grey does go well with pink I think, so it would work with your hypothetical shirt and it is fairly summery. A linen suit would also work if you don't mind the crumples but, at least in my view, a darker coloured linen suit looks better than the typical "linen" coloured one.

Khaki poplin suit, pink shirt, navy knit tie. Shoes are negotiable, brown oxford looks good, saddle shoes (brown on black) also good, spectators would be awesome.

In all seriousness, semi-formal = suit. Wear one.

That's what I think. If all else fails, what will everyone else be wearing?

Wear a polo shirt under a jacket and sandals.

Go for a suit. When in doubt, it's better to over-dress than under-dress.
