signatures!

i have a terrible signature. i don't really understand how signatures work, or how i developed min... ideally, i'd like mine to be more aesthetically pleasing, for when i'm signing something official or to be presented...

my questions for you are:

did you *learn* your signature? or did it just happen way back when, like in gradeschool when your learned cursive?

do you care about what your signature looks like? do you pay attention to what other peoples' signs look like?

any links or advice on making my own, creative sig?

I remember in elementary school when everyone was coming up with signatures. Mine is also terrible. I basically just write my name in bad handwriting. I'm so glad for the existence of computers.

My name is long so I make half the first letter of my first name and then make an undulating line representative of the rest of my name.

Someone told me once I had a 'bad signature' and I just raised an eyebrow. Why the **** should they care, especially since this person had no clout whatsoever?

I've forgotten how to write most cursive letters including the ones in my nime.

My hand is also lazy...to write my full name at normal signature size, I would have to move my hand once on the page which sounds like too much work. Instead this usually means that the second half of my last name is literally just a scribble that bears no association to the actual letters (I'm left handed so by that point I am just pushing the pen away beyond the point where I have good control over the tip)

My signature was awful for most of my life. Many people including myself shrugged it off to my profession, but over the last year, I've been making an effort to improve it mainly by slowing down when I write it. It's now legible.

Other than signatures whats the importance of cursive? Really signatures aren't really cursive just kindergarten scribble. So just keep it simple.

I learned my signature in sixth grade though, a friend of mine had a nice signature so i copied his style. I think it could be better if i worked on it and slowed down.

I believe there's a website (I'm too lazy to search) where ou send your name and some basic personal info and they send you back a few possible signatures you might like. Sort of like a corporate slogan/logo idea...

I developed my signature when I was probably 10 years old. I learned penmanship in when I was in grade school, or even younger.
