Borrelli Sorrento on me...some sort of beaded Missoni number on her, because I know that what to wear to a restaurant is always a difficult question.

Here's a Sorrento in cashmere and linen:

I think that the Linosas were Gen 1 and Sorrentos are Gen 2, but they overlapped in availability. Gen 1 Linosas had examples, like the cotton jacket, of a dartless front. There are also darted Linosas. All Sorrentos that I have seen have darted fronts.

Fantastic jackets...if they fit you. Because of the way that they are constructed, the alteration options are fewer than with a more standard jacket. These are almost, although not quite, shirt jackets. None have shoulder padding or wadding, afaik, and they are generally quarter lined or even unlined. There is no chest canvass, but there is a line of fusing through the lapels down the fronts, about four inches wide on either side.

The undarted Linosas are about the best RTW expressions of the sack that I have ever seen. There are so slightly constructed that unless you love them right away, you might say, "They charge $2K for this????" I only get them on sale...

I picked mine up at Mount Holyoke College in 1984. But full retail.

To my knowledge, Linosas and Sorrentos only come as odd jackets. I think MeowMeow's looked like a suit but that was...I think, perhaps he can confirm...a Linosa cotton odd jacket with odd trousers.

Maybe it wasn't Linosa or Sorrento but he said it was Linosa. It does look like a suit though.Does the store in NYC have good variety?

Mine came as a suit. I have no idea how much they retail now, as Borrelli has been bumping up their price quite steadily. I think the "Luxury Vintage" line is sort of like their diffusion line now, with lots of fusing but same details, i.e. hand sewn button holes, pick stitchings, etc.

Hmmm...I just read his description, and indeed, he says it is a Linosa suit. So, I am wrong...they exist. I have never seen them, though...maybe it is a North American market thing.

I haven't been to the NYC store. The one in Boston is fairly small, and their selection varies from none to few.

I have a LV suit and there isn't any discernable fusing there. Where did you find fusing in a Borrelli LV suit/jacket?

Some of my LV odd jackets are fused. Keep in mind we are talking about Borrelli's very light and soft fusing ala Linosa jackets. I have two LV summer suits and they are completely unlined, un-fused, and un-canvassed.

Thanks, I agree. Very good suit for the hotter days. Borrelli does MTM in their stores so you can definitely get it, but will be too expensive IMO.

No, they are still cut and sewn like a suit jacket, just without any internal structuring. Maybe I'll take a pic of mine and post here.
