Do I really need to link back to your bacon thread?

I use olive oil often. Whenever I'm cooking, I'm using it. When I was a hardcore health nut, I would sometimes drink a tablespoon after a meal of broiled chicken with brown rice and broccoli.

Lard is good too. Spread some lard on a piece of rye bread, and top with bacon slices. Fantastic.

Seriously though, I do like olive oil a lot, but I agree with others. Some things require butter. For example, I prefer to scramble eggs in butter. I've tried it with olive oil, and technically it works, but the olive oil overpowers the taste of the eggs.

I use tons of it. I just bought a 3 liter can of Greek oil from the farmer's market on Sunday. The Greek guy told me it was "the best" and I have to agree that this **** is the chronic. I'm going to go have some with bread and sliced tomatoes. Midnight snack time.

My girlfriend's straight-off-the-boat Italian grandfather still uses olive oil to slick back his hair. He's such an amusing old codger.

Back to the topic at hand, I tend to use a lot of olive oil and garlic in my cooking. I seem to go through both faster than most people.

Using too much olive oil is relative to your diet. It definitely isnt hard to put on fat using the stuff if you are not careful but it is the same for butter and everything else alike. Olive oil is just the best alternative.

When it comes to me, I live for the stuff. I put it on almost everything, fish, seafood, meat, pasta, you name it. One of my favorite things in the world is just some sliced vine ripe tomato and EVOO finished with some sea salt and dry oregano.

I made a sandwich last week with a prosciutto (sliced very thin), buffalo mozzarella, arugula, and a fresh fig jam, finished with some EVOO. OMG.

I buy it regularly, by the gallon. It has become the preferred accompaniment to bread at our house, either mixed with grated Reggiano or some sort of herb and salt mixture. Its the go to oil for almost anything I'm cooking, unless its sweet or being deep fried.

Oh, the greener, the better!

I love good olive oil. I judge an Italian restaurant by the quality of olive oil they give you for your bread before your main course. If the oil isn't good, chances are the food isn't either. Good olive oil + sea salt + fresh cracked pepper + red pepper flakes + crusty bread = happy me.

For cooking, I only use olive oil for dishes requiring low heat. I still use olive oil for 60-70% of my oil consumption at the end of the day.

Love olive oil. It's the main lipid I use. Only time I use butter or anything is in baking or in finishing a sauce. Sometimes I use bacon lardons as a garnish so I'll use the bacon fat to cook with, but olive oil is awesome. Use it in everything.
