That's actually a pretty good price. I remember the first time I saw a Jil Sander suit in the mid-later 90s, they were selling for about $2000 then, so the prices have stayed pretty consistent over 10+ years.

You can get the "basic" grey/navy/black suits for $1400.

I think this qualifies for failing "hard and gloriously":

Nom de Guerre short trench in navy (awaiting shipment from fellow SF'er)
Dries Van Noten chukkas in charcoal
Loden Dager Weston pants in light grey
Kicking Mule 1980 raw denim

Just got the Dries today. Man, they are BUTTER. Most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

I must've gotten the last one, and luckily it was a size 42. I tried on the 43's at Barneys, and they were a little big. (FYI: I wear a 9 in Chucks)
