Would a 41 Regular be too small?

I'm 6,4" tall. In suits, I normally purchase a size 41 Long. However, I'm trying to get rid of the somewhat "boxy" longer look that some of my suits have to them. I have purchased blazers (which came in sizes Small, Medium, Large, etc.) before that have the shorter, more modern look that I'm trying to get, but I wouldn't know how to match that to suit sizes. I have also purchased a few JosABank suits from the traveler's series, which have more of a "tailored/slim" fit, however these are still are bit longer than what I'm looking for. If I were to purchase a 41 Regular, would it be TOO small??

Length of the suit has nothing to do with the boxy look. You need to stop buying Jos A. Bank suits, they are crap, and try on a Brooks Brothers in Milano or Fitzgerald cuts (that's the slim ones, right?). And you should definitely go for a Long and not a Regular.

I agree with the Long suggestion, UNLESS your torso is fairly short and most of your height is from your legs (I know people like this).

Brooks brothers would be a good place to look since they have locations everywhere for you to try on the jackets.

You might also be interested in Paul Stuart which has Regular, Semi-Tall, and Tall sizing options.

BTW, if you're going to buy a "real suit" for the first time you might want to stay on the traditional end and get something you can wear to any occasion.

In all actuality, I don't mind the look of the JosABank suits I've purchased from the Traveler's Series. I'm a somewhat muscular guy and when I wear those suits, the tapered look of my body is complimented by the tapered look of the suits. My complaint about those in particular is the "length". And I'm not 100% sure if just changing to "regular" instead of "long" would change that.

IIRC Difference between long and regular is only about an inch. It wouldn't have any effect with boxy look. Boxy look usually is caused by fit issue or things like lack of waist suppression.

A shorter jacket will just be that shorter. It won't be trimmer or slimmer.

Plus you might also run into the issue of your sleeves being too short.

If you want to know if a 41R would fit right ,,, Why don't you just go to a store and try one on in front of a mirror.
