What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

I went to look at the B&W CM8s over the weekend. I asked the salesman about them, and he told me that a customer just returned a pair that he owned for a week, since he upgraded to the Viennas. They offered to sell the open-box pair for $1600 (originally $2200), which I thought was a great deal. I didn't have time to open the boxes to inspect the speakers, but they assured me that they were pristine. They were delivered yesterday and, as you may have expected, the speakers were damaged! Both tweeters were punched in, and one of the grills was missing. I called the store immediately and, to make a long story short, they're having a brand new pair shipped to me for the same price + $150 gift card!

While I'm waiting for the new ones to arrive, I of course hooked up the damaged speakers. Despite the tweeter damage, they sound awesome!!!! A nice upgrade to my 20 yr old Vandersteens.

Good to hear that the store was accommodating and looking to serve their customers rather than look to rip you off.

Yay, finally got a proper replacement AC adaptor for my Sony Pro-Walkman. Now I can listen to the tape recordings I made when I was a student. LOL.

Got a question for you stereophiles:

I've got a 5pc set of Infinity Priums speakers (2 towers, 1 center, 2 rears) and I need a receiver to hook them up. I don't need anything in the ArtisanFan range, but if possible, I would like it to be able to receive streamed music from my computer (or something of the sort). Cheaper = better. Any suggestions?

You have many options. For example you could:

Buy a new or older networked receiver like one of many of the Denons.
Buy an older receiver from a couple of years ago and an older Apple TV that had built in storage.
Buy an older receiver if you have a TV that can support network streaming, any steaming box, or a new Apple TV.

The Logitech Squeezeboxes are also good network audio streamers. You need to run their server on your computer, but it's pretty lightweight.

Are you listening to just 2-channel music, or do you want to stream multichannel material, too?

Well the Apple TV was just one example. You could use a lot of boxes to accomplish this (including a current gen game console). That option is going to be cheaper than buying a network ready receiver and you'll likely get a better interface, more free money to spend on a receiver, and added features like Netflix/Google TV/Hulu etc. depending on the streaming box you pick.

Another good suggestion. Music will most likely be 2-channel. I just want to be able to get all the music from my computer to the receiver in the living room.

Would the AppleTV need to be hacked? Not a problem, just curious. This new model Vizio TV has Netflix and Pandora. Sadly, no You Tube

Neither the previous nor current Apple TV need to be hacked as long as you use iTunes. You can also consider other boxes, but those range from Roku's which can't stream music from your PC to Logitech Revue's which costs $300. Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect jack of all trades. Apple TV has a great Netflix interface but doesn't support 1080p, Hulu, or Pandora out of the box. The PS3 does 1080p, but the YouTube interface sucks, it doesn't do Pandora, and it's expensive. The Roku is cheap, but doesn't stream music. The Logitech Revue is expensive. etc. etc. etc.

There are cheap streamers that can handle 1080p, though you need to screw around with them a bit: WD Live, Patriot, Asus OPlay. I believe all 3 can use storage of some kind.
