Why is linen so unpopular in North America?

I've got a great ecru (natural) linen jacket from H&M (yeah, yeah) that looks fantastic with a white shirt. It might be the only jacket I like better with white than blue.

Linen is my favorite fabric. I think the wrinkles are just part of the territory. They don't bother me at all since it's just an intrinsic quality.

I like bamboo, but most people assume it's just cotton, so wrinkles cause more of a negative reaction than linen.

I've seen those. Never got one. As far as H&M goes, they are not as slim as I would have hoped.

I got some linen pants last summer from H&M, but it's very baggy in the seat, and it makes my wallet swing back and fourth when I walk. It's not due to my physique either, just a bad cut.

I grew up in Houston and hardly ever saw linen. Since discovering this site, I'm very interested in switching to cotton/linen blends.

I have a linen traditional Chinese suit that I use as pajamas. Only problem is that the sleeves and trousers are a bit short, and the collar a bit stiff.

A tailor once commented to me that getting MTM or bespoke linen suits were pointless since they all looked so rumpled and disheveled anyways. Has anyone here every got a MTM/bespoke linen suit? Does canvassing even matter here?

Yes. Yes. Cotton is even worse, but I have a couple of those as well, and love them.
