I've always felt that my ties were too long as the narrow end rests almost perfectly in line with the wide end. I really only prefer "nicky" (similar to Pratt) knot so that won't change but I can't do a four-in-hand even if I wanted to.
The issue I have with them being the same length is that the end of a is triangular. When the narrow moves to either side it pokes beside this triangle section.
I'd suspect it's better to be a couple inches higher up so that the end of the narrow end rests where the tie is at it's widest (more or less).
I have been considering getting my ties shortened (I'm only 5'4" so wouldn't surprise me that I'd need it done). But wanted to get an idea of what the "ideal" length would be if I'll go doing this.
My ties are basically all 58" that end up looking like what I've mentioned. I'd suspect 56" would have it so the narrow end rests just above where wide end triangular tip starts. Not sure if that means 56" is good? Maybe 54"? I suspect not shorter than that?
Any help appreciated.
