What is everyone thoughts of microfiber

Just wanted to get everyone take on it. Sure microfiber saved polyester for clothing but what do you think? Do you wear it and in what?

I use microfiber mostly for athletic and outdoor wear such as running, skiing, sailing , etc........Though I do have a few pieces of outer/rain wear that employ its use.

I have a microfiber raincoat. It is a dirt magnet, and a lousy repellent of water. Never again.

I went to Filene's today and saw a Armani sportcoat that I really liked but I read the label and it was 100% synthetic. I just feel weird about spending significant amounts of money on something that isn't a natural fiber. Am I weird?

Odd I didn't think he used any synthetic. Personally I have some microfiber boxer-briefs I love. That could be a TMI moment.

I also have a pair of casual slacks in microfiber that have a great look/drape to them. The issue I have is dry-cleaning casual, but that is just me

Not at all. Synthetic fibres are extremely cheap and thus paying any significant amount for it seems off base for me too.

I've not had much luck with microfiber and usually avoid it.

Microfibers have an unnatural sheen and a slick hand. For these reasons I've never found them appealing.

I have a microfiber raincoat (DB trench) as well, and wish it wasn't. I don't find that it is a dirt magnet, and it is impervious to non-soaking liquid immersion (ie a coffee spilled on me and light rain), however, the material is too 'floppy' and soft and does not have a nice drape, nor give good swish.

However, I wore the coat over my shoulders like a cape the other day and it worked rather well in that role. Not that this is any sort of rational justification, however...

Don't own any clothing in microfiber, but whilst slighty OT, I find it to work excellent when washing and detailing a car.

I scorched my microfiber pants with an iron-they were a valuable learning tool.

I have never had microfiber clothing but microfiber (denoted mf in the detailing community) makes for excellent application and buffing of car wax and sealants.
