It'd be nice if I can charge my laptop wirelessly.

A transporter ala Star Trek style. No more traffic jams and marsupialed fuel prices and oh yeah ridiculous airport lines and security and lay overs and and and.

Along those lines - super long-lasting batteries. +1 on the Star Trek transporter too. Imagine how much that would change the world. You could live in one country and work in the next. I'm thinking of beaming between two "stations" though rather than just randomly going to any point because think of the crime then e.g. beaming into a bank vault. Household robots would be pretty sweet as well.

I always believed I'd be able to buy a hoverboard by the year 2000. I was sorely disappointed when the year 2000 came and they still weren't invented.

There aren't going to be any teleporters guys. We will sooner have our consciousnesses downloaded into computers and reuploaded into robot bodies.

I am eagerly awaiting a lot of new things that should be hitting within a couple decades. A few are: a) a true phone/gps/internet convergence device and the everywhere-internet infrastructure to support it, b) full autopilot cars, and perhaps a bit further down the road: c) direct neural interface computing, d) augmented reality devices.

I'd imagine that if we did have flying cars, you'd find them too aesthetically unpleasing to be worth driving.

Sexbots.

Or, very, very, very, realistic virtual reality.

Whichever comes first.

The only technically conceivable teleportation scenarios involve transferring the quantum state of one set of particles to another via entanglement. This involves destroying the set of particles on the transmitter end. Who wants to go first?

(There's been talk of using wormhole-type transport as a linkage between different segments of space, but this is currently not much more than science fiction.)
