I was just joking w/ you. Which name is infinitely cooler on every conceivable level: the Gallowgate End or The Newcastle Brown Ale Stand? And as far as renamings go, Newcastle Brown is not a bad one. A prime example of how corporate renaming is inevitably for the worse, and can really eviscerate the 'sense of place'.
